Iran’s Plan
Imagine, if you can, that you are one of the Islamic fanatics in control of Iran. Presumably, you’re smart enough to know that you can’t defeat the United States in an all-out war.
So, what would you want more than anything else to happen before 2026 is over? You would want to hang on just long enough to ensure that Donald Trump’s Republicans lose their majorities in the House and the Senate. The reason is simple: to weaken President Trump.
Nothing would be more advantageous for Iran and its radical death-worshiping theology than for the modern Democrat Party to control Congress and then win the White House back in 2028. Iran does very well when Democrats control Washington, D.C.
If I had said something like this five years ago, some people would have dismissed it as a harsh exaggeration. It’s no exaggeration today. We have all seen what’s happened since Hamas terrorists slaughtered 1,200 Israelis on October 7, 2023.
Wide swaths of the Democrat base—and an increasing number of Democrat politicians—are willing to throw Jews to the socialist/Marxist/Islamist wolves in America. And they are willing to browbeat Israel into making concessions that will doom its existence as a nation-state.
So, I’ll say it again: Nothing could be more advantageous to Iran than dragging out the war to defeat Donald Trump’s governing coalition and then watching the spread of socialism and Jew-hatred in America.
Trump vs. The Mullahs
No president of either party has been tougher on radical Islam, and specifically on Iran, than Donald Trump. None. Not one. In his first term, he moved our embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, where it belonged. He launched the Abraham Accords, getting multiple Arab nations to recognize Israel. And he imposed crippling sanctions on Iran.
In his second term, President Trump bombed Iran’s nuclear program. He took out their leaders. He sank Iran’s navy and destroyed much of its military capability. He cut off their oil sales with a naval blockade. That’s why Iran has repeatedly tried to assassinate him and threatened to kill other members of his family.
Polling found that half of Democrats said America would have been better off if the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, had succeeded.
We all saw how significant numbers of deranged leftists danced on the bloody body of Charlie Kirk. Can you imagine what they would do if, God forbid, Donald Trump was taken off the field?
Remembering America’s Heroes
I want to return to Welles Crowther, the man in the red bandana. On the ground, he was the personification of American manhood, patriotism and courage just as Todd Beamer was on Flight 93.
As President Trump noted at yesterday’s ceremony, Welles didn’t know the people he rescued. But he willingly made trip after trip, up and down the stairwell, “saving life after life . . . before losing his own life in the South Tower lobby when the building came down.”
On the horrific day our homeland was attacked, there were extraordinary examples of who the Americans are. The passengers on Flight 93, like good Americans, voted on whether they should fight back or remain in their seats. They called their families, prayed together and then ran down the aisle into combat.
Welles Crowther displayed extraordinary courage on 9/11. He wasn’t unusual in that regard. Hundreds of firefighters and police officers ran into the Twin Towers against every impulse of human survival. More than 400 of them never made it out.
One of them was Father Mychal Judge, a New York City Fire Department chaplain. Father Judge was killed when debris from the collapsing South Tower flew into the North Tower lobby.
Did you know that the largest boatlift in history was not Dunkirk during World War II? No, the largest boatlift in history took place in Manhattan on September 11, 2001. Everyone with a boat headed to the piers of Manhattan. We evacuated many more people in nine hours than the courageous Dunkirk rescue did in nine days.
While we know the names of Welles Crowther, Todd Beamer and Mychal Judge, there were thousands of heroes on 9/11 whose names we will never know. Thank God for their courage.
Teaching The Next Generation Of Heroes
I bring up this brief history because if our elites were as normal and as healthy as the great bulk of the American people are, we would be teaching the stories of Crowther, Beamer and Judge in our schools. This is the stuff that molds young people into becoming patriots and lovers of their country who understand sacrifice, who have courage and who know there are things greater than themselves.
This is exactly what we want in our modern world with so many things that send the exact opposite message. All we had to do was develop a curriculum. Not a woke, politically correct curriculum, but one that tells the story of what happened on September 11, 2001, and the role of radical Islam in the atrocities of that day.
Many people, myself included, often lament the fact that children today don’t know much about the history of their own country. We say, “We need to tell our kids what happened at Concord Bridge.” Yes, that’s true, but it was 250 years ago. It’s hard for kids to relate, and they wonder, “What’s that got to do with me today?”
We say, “Let’s teach them what happened on the beaches of Normandy,” and we should. But that was more than 80 years ago. The men who were on the beaches of Normandy and in the South Pacific are almost all gone. No young person today knows any of them.
But 9/11 happened just 25 years ago. Their parents and grandparents remember it. Many heroes of that day are still with us. We could be telling that story in an appropriate manner at every grade level.
We don’t have to go back to Greek myths to define heroes. We don’t need make-believe heroes on the screen like Superman, Batman or Spider-Man. How about just the regular American man and woman—not from 250 years ago, but 25 years ago—who was willing to risk everything for his country and his fellow Americans?
And there are no complicating “woke” issues. Some leftists say we shouldn’t teach kids about our Founding Fathers because “They were slavers. They were all old white men. They stole the land from the indigenous people.”
The heroes of 9/11 were just regular Americans. None of them owned slaves. None of them kicked anyone off their land. They were men and women of all colors, and they knew they were called to fight, sacrifice, work hard and keep at it no matter what.
But Democrats and their Marxist allies say we “caused” and “deserved” 9/11. The Left has done everything they could to try to make a four-hour riot on Capitol Hill into a national day they could use to teach our children to hate half of the country. That’s what they wanted to emphasize!
Democrats will fall on their sword over mutilating kids and forcing them to lie by calling a girl “he.” They’ll fight to the death to keep the Ten Commandments off of a classroom wall. They’re always on the lookout for anything remotely Christian. “Nope. Can’t have that here.”
They think your daughter should get an abortion without your knowledge. They think there is nothing wrong with showing your 7-year-old how to put a condom on a banana and subjecting them to “drag queen story hour.”
But they will resist every step of the way, and with every ounce of strength they have, any effort to encourage you to remember, understand and appreciate American greatness.
Ambassador Rose Reflects
Tom Rose is the U.S. ambassador to Poland, former CEO of the Jerusalem Post, co-host of the former “Bauer & Rose Show” and a long-time friend. He recorded a brief video reflecting on where he was on September 11, 2001, and the importance of teaching every generation that freedom is not free and must be defended.
I highly encourage you to watch the video and share it with friends and family members.
