Wednesday, November 4, 2026 -- America Lost Last Night, What Just Happened, Looking Ahead

America Lost Last Night

Well, the polls this year were right. They predicted a “Blue wave,” and every media outlet is reporting the news that Republicans lost last night. But that is not the most accurate conclusion of what happened. American Christian values lost.

If you believe, as I do, that all of our children are made in the image of God and should be welcomed into the world and accepted as part of the American family, we lost. We just elected the most pro-abortion group of House and Senate candidates in history.

If you believe, as I do, that God created marriage as one man and one woman and that children should be protected from homosexual indoctrination, you and I lost. The people who just won are the most aggressive LGBTQ advocates ever elected to Congress.

If you believe, as I do, that the Jewish people are God’s covenant people, or if you’re a Jew worried about antisemitism, you and I lost last night. We just elected the biggest group of anti-Israel, antisemitic congressmen and senators in the history of this country.

If you believe America was founded on Biblical principles, on Judeo-Christian ideas and on the belief that liberty comes from the God of the Bible, not government, you and I lost last night. We just put anti-Christian bigots, left-wing Christian imposters, radical Islamists and radical Marxists in charge of the House and the Senate.

That idea that America is best when we run our own lives, not the government, lost. The belief that Jesus is the way, not Karl Marx, lost. Everything we care about got the “you know what” kicked out of it last night.

Don’t think what happened in yesterday’s election was just “politics.” What happened last night will negatively impact our faith, our families and our freedom in ways we can’t even begin to imagine.

Pray for America and for the future of our children and grandchildren. Pray that the scales would fall from many eyes and that the Church in America would wake up.

What Just Happened

Some people have said to me, “Gary, maybe God is giving America one last warning to get its act together.” I think that analysis is off in one important way. I accept the idea that God is giving us a warning, but the “us” is not America. It’s the Church.

America is not going to be better than the Church. Don’t expect your secular neighbors to vote the right way. Don’t expect the Islamists to vote the right way. Don’t expect the Marxists to vote the right way.

Sadly, we can’t even expect the Church to vote the right way if our pastors are not leading and not teaching their congregations how to think biblically about the issues confronting our country.

Christians Didn’t Show Up

As I was licking my wounds last night, I was thinking about what my friend Dr. James Dobson would be saying about these election results. He would be looking at specific races and what the results mean for the body of Christ. He would be beside himself with anger and, maybe, even a sense that it’s over for America.

Last night, a pastor from the largest Methodist church in America was elected as the next senator from Kansas. But instead of celebrating the news that a pastor was elected to the Senate, I’m disgusted because he is a left-wing Christian imposter, who is totally opposed to everything Bible-believing Christians cherish. He just defeated a commonsense, pro-life conservative.

This is one of the saddest observations of all. Republicans won last night in Florida, but just barely. The Democrat candidates who lost races for governor and senator got roughly four million votes each. That’s almost the exact same number of votes that Kamala Harris got two years ago when Donald Trump beat her by 13 points.

The Republican candidates for governor and senator fell far short of the votes Donald Trump received two years ago. So, it’s not like there were a bunch of new leftists in Florida. Two million conservatives just didn’t show up.

Obviously, some significant percentage of those 2024 Trump voters are Christians, and this dynamic played out in races all over the country last night. In spite of everything we knew about Marxists and Islamists hijacking the Democrat Party this year, we are actually looking into reports of record-low turnout among White evangelical Christians.

By the way, as of this writing, the incumbent Republican senator is losing in Mississippi—a state Donald Trump carried by 25 points just two years ago.

Our Founders Must Be Furious

You can imagine the night I had. I spent the evening doing interviews with foreign media outlets well after midnight. As a resident of Virginia, I have witnessed the Old Dominion, home of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Patrick Henry and other founding fathers, go from a conservative-leaning state to one where we get destroyed.

Last night, Virginians enshrined abortion on demand and same-sex marriage in our state constitution. Our Founding Fathers pledged their “lives, fortunes and sacred honor” to the idea that we were all created by God with the unalienable right to life. What would they think of America today?

America made history last night. We elected the first Muslim to the United States Senate. Not just a Muslim who came to America fleeing Islamist oppression. No, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed is an Islamist!

Other Issues On The Ballot

In addition to the elections for state and federal offices, there were many issue-related referenda on yesterday’s ballot. While Idaho voters managed to defeat a pro-abortion ballot measure, one passed 63% to 37% in Nevada. Voters in Missouri failed 45% to 55% to repeal the pro-abortion amendment that passed in 2024.

Four states voted to protect girls’ sports from cheating boys—Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska and Washington State. Colorado also voted to protect children from sterilizing drugs and mutilating surgeries.

Voter ID always polls well, but it lost last night in Arizona and California by significant margins. A big part of the blame for these losses goes to the deceptive summary explanations of the amendments that left-wing bureaucrats included on the ballot.

Thankfully, voter ID measures passed in Nevada, North Carolina and Ohio. Related measures requiring citizenship to vote passed by wide margins in Arkansas, Kansas, South Dakota and West Virginia.

Voters in Alabama approved two ballot measures that should be standard practice in every state. Sixty-three percent of voters approved a measure requiring public school students to recite the Pledge of Allegiance every day and allowing student-led prayer in schools. Alabama voters also approved an amendment requiring schools to broadcast the national anthem at least once a week.

Looking Ahead

I am not Isaiah or Jeremiah or a prophet of any kind. I just look around and see what I see. I am telling you now, friends, that your children will live to see a Muslim or a Marxist president if we do not get our act together quickly.

Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed will be one of the most difficult politicians to deal with. He is articulate, quick-witted and slick. He denigrates his opponents with effective and powerful mockery. He wields his rhetoric like an Islamic sword.

Speaking directly to President Trump and Vice President Vance last night, El-Sayed said:

“JD, habibi [my dear], there is this delicious irony in the fact that you’re constitutionally obligated to swear me in in January. So, you know what that means? [Michigan] Wolverines one, [Ohio] Buckeyes zero.

“Donald, look, I know you struggled with my name. So, after JD swears me in in January, you can just go on and call me Senator.”

There is no one on our side who knows how to play in today’s rough and tumble politics other than Donald Trump. And he won’t be on the ballot again.
