Rubio Rocks Munich
Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered an extraordinary address to the Munich Security Conference Saturday, and he pulled no punches. Rubio warned European leaders to wake up, secure their borders, and end the tidal wave of mass Muslim immigration before it’s too late.
Secretary Rubio repeatedly stressed in his remarks that the United States and Europe have shared roots and values stemming from the Christian faith. Christopher Columbus brought that faith to America’s shores more than 530 years ago.
The Christian faith of the Pilgrims and our Founding Fathers is part of America’s DNA. It’s written into our Declaration of Independence, which states that our rights come from God, not government.
Rubio made it clear that the United States “is a child of Europe,” and we want to work with our European allies. But we need those allies to be strong, proud of who they are, and willing to defend Western Civilization, not cowering in fear.
He told the Munich conference, “For we in America have no interest in being polite and orderly caretakers of the West’s managed decline.”
This is the same message that President Trump and Vice President Vance have delivered, each in their own way, and there is no inconsistency here.
The media immediately tried to set off infighting within the GOP by contrasting last year’s speech by J.D. Vance and this year’s remarks by Marco Rubio. Vance immediately praised Rubio’s speech. But what the media doesn’t want to focus on is the content of his speech and its unapologetic defense of Western Civilization.
AOC Chokes
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) also spoke at the Munich Security Conference. I think it is fair to say that she did not perform as well as Marco Rubio. Her response to a question about the U.S. relationship with Taiwan was, to put it politely, painful to watch.
Later, she mocked Secretary Rubio’s speech as a “pure appeal to Western culture.” The socialist congresswoman used air quotes in reference to Western culture as if she doesn’t believe it exists.
Ocasio-Cortez also attempted to correct Secretary Rubio for suggesting that American cowboys trace their roots back to Spain, saying, “I believe Mexicans and the descendants of enslaved peoples would like to have a word.” Rubio is right; she is wrong. Not only did she get her history wrong, but she also got her geography wrong, too.
Evidently, AOC likes to play the race card not only domestically, but also internationally. When talking about the “international rules-based order,” she said:
“We look at what happened in Venezuela, for example. It is not a remark on who Maduro was as a leader. He canceled elections, he was an anti-democratic leader, that doesn’t mean that we can kidnap a head of state and engage in acts of war just because the nation is below the equator.”
So, she thinks America’s foreign policy is racist because we’re “pushing around people of color” south of the equator. Could someone please get Ms. Ocasio-Cortez a map?! Venezuela is above the equator.
I still think there is a real possibility that AOC could be the Democrat presidential nominee in 2028 or on the ticket as vice president. That speaks to the danger we are in as a nation when someone like her has a shot at the highest office in the land.
And it’s not just 20 years from now. A December poll found a hypothetical match-up between J.D. Vance and AOC was statistically tied!
Minnesota Madness
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is demanding reparations from the federal government. “The federal government needs to pay for what they broke here,” Walz said. “There [is] going to be accountability on the things that happened, but one of the things is the incredible and immense costs that were borne by the people of this state.”
This gives new meaning to the word “chutzpah.”
What was broken by the federal government was our borders during Joe Biden’s four-year reign. Not only did Biden break the border, but the 15 million illegal foreign nationals who came in broke a lot of other things—our health care system, our schools, the wages Americans earned, law and order in many communities, and families who were victims of cartel drugs and criminal illegal aliens.
President Trump, who was elected to secure the border, could have dealt with this if only Gov. Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Frey had acted like adults and helped to get the criminal element out of their state and city. Instead, they stoked a mini “civil war.”
Now, Walz wants the nation’s taxpayers to pay for it.
If the governor wants money to repair Minneapolis, I suggest he submit his request to Somalia, where billions of our dollars ended up at the hands of corrupt Somalis who sent it “home.”
Another Trans Atrocity
Robert Dorgan, a man claiming to be a woman, opened fire at a high school hockey game in Rhode Island yesterday, killing two people and seriously wounding three others. It is believed that four of the five victims were members of Dorgan’s family. Dorgan committed suicide at the scene.
It is a sign of the age that transgender ideology has become weaponized and it is killing people, yet nobody will address it.
A trial began today in Texas involving Marxist Antifa revolutionaries who attacked an immigration detention facility, attempting to murder federal immigration police officers. Nineteen people were charged in connection to the attack. At least two of the defendants are transgender.
Last week, a man claiming to be a woman, killed his mother, his half-brother, five students, and a teacher in Canada.
Mass shootings by transgender individuals are happening more and more frequently. With some online research and helpful data from an AI platform, one columnist discovered that roughly 10% of mass shootings in the past eight years have been committed by a transgender killer.
That means “trans people commit these acts at a rate about 20 times their proportion in the population.”
The columnist noted that this violence likely has nothing to do with actual gender dysphoria. It has everything to do with a corrupt, left-wing medical establishment rushing mentally ill people into extreme transgender treatments without ever addressing their underlying mental health issues.
Schumer’s Pride
Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer wants to make the LGBTQ “pride” flag a congressionally authorized symbol. So, alongside the American flag, the military service flags, and the POW flag, Schumer wants to add the sodomy flag. That fits.
I don’t know about you, but I think the Senate has more important things to deal with.
Here’s another suggestion: Just make it the official flag of the Democrat Party.
Losing Their Grip
For many years now, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest LGBTQ lobbying group, has browbeaten major corporations into enacting LGBTQ policies and participating in their “Corporate Equality Index” (CEI) scorecard. Corporations eager to avoid the wrath of the woke Left worked hard to earn perfect 100% scores from HRC.
Well, it seems HRC is losing its grip over corporate America.
The number of Fortune 500 companies participating in its CEI scorecard is down from 377 to 131—a decline of 65%. HRC is constantly adding new demands that factor into its “corporate equality” score, such as mandating employee courses on preferred pronouns. It’s hard to believe 131 corporations are still willing to submit to this.
But the Democrat Party cannot extricate itself from the trans juggernaut. The only thing they can do is deflect attention or hope to confuse people.
So, we get Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear citing the Bible as his reason for vetoing legislation protecting children from sterilizing drugs and mutilating surgeries. He says he’s not going to attack vulnerable children. That’s his excuse for stopping a bill that would protect children from being mutilated?!
Last week, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly vetoed a bill requiring people to use bathrooms that match their biological sex in all government buildings. Kelly said, “I believe the Legislature should stay out of the business of telling Kansans how to go to the bathroom and instead stay focused on how to make life more affordable for Kansans.”
This is not a “controversial issue.” The public is overwhelmingly with us. But Democrats like Kelly want you to think Republicans are obsessed with bathrooms.
Democrats are the ones who are obsessed with bathrooms, or she wouldn’t have vetoed the bill that preserved normalcy and the status quo. It’s the trans movement that’s obsessed with bathrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms. And a Democrat governor, even in Kansas, dares not betray them.
Jesse Jackson, R.I.P.
Jesse Jackson passed away this morning. Over the years, I had many occasions to debate him on various TV shows, and we exchanged many barbs.
But he made a mark on the American political system. He ran for the Democrat presidential nomination twice, and the Democrat Party establishment did everything it could to stop him both times.
