Thursday, September 18, 2025 -- Mushy Thinking, Moral Clarity, Trump Takes Action

Mushy Thinking

“Charlie Kirk wasn’t killed by ‘them.’ ‘They’ didn’t pull the trigger. One person did, apparently a young man driven by impulse and a terrible hate. . . Using Charlie’s murder to justify retaliation against political rivals is wrong and dangerous. It will further divide and embitter our country. No good thing will come of it.”

That was the message Karl Rove chose to share with us today in a Wall Street Journal column. Rove may be legally correct that one man pulled the trigger and that man is being charged in a court of law.

But his larger point is wrong because it completely misses the big picture. We must understand the moment we are living in.

As I noted, Tyler Robinson, Charlie Kirk’s assassin, wasn’t the only leftist in court yesterday charged with murder or attempted murder.

We’re seeing more and more transgenders committing acts of horrific violence—killing students at Christian schools, firebombing Teslas, attacking immigration detention facilities, and murdering Border Patrol agents.

Leftists who constantly accuse Christians and conservatives of being “Nazis,” “fascists,” and “dangers to our democracy” also bear part of the responsibility for the attempted assassinations of Donald Trump and the actual assassination of Charlie Kirk.

John Fetterman understands this. Why Karl Rove thinks we should turn a blind eye to this obvious and growing danger is inexplicable.

Moral Clarity

Two hardly insignificant people vehemently disagree with Rove’s reaction. One of them is Mrs. Kirk, the new CEO of Turning Point USA. In her address to the nation, Erika Kirk said:

“The evildoers responsible for my husband's assassination have no idea what they have done. They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and of God's merciful love.

“They should all know this: If you thought that my husband's mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country.”

Her use of the words “evildoers” (plural) and “they” was intentional. She was referring to the radical leftists who hated her husband, who smeared her husband, and who did everything they could to dehumanize him.

Vice President J.D. Vance makes the same point. Vance told Fox News:

“You look at every ounce of evidence that we have, and it is clear. [The assassin] grew up in a pretty normal family, actually had a pretty good home life, who was radicalized by the far left, by the social networks of the far left, by the ideas of the far left. And got so far down the path of radicalization that he killed my friend.”

“That is not a both sides problem. My friend is dead because of left-wing political radicalization. . .”

That’s the moral clarity we desperately need!

Trump Takes Action

Saying only one person killed Charlie Kirk ignores the disturbing reality that there are well-funded and growing organizations on the far left that are radicalizing people and encouraging violence.

Charlie Kirk traveled with at least half a dozen security guards. Did he do this because he was worried about one trans-obsessed guy taking a shot at him? No. He knew there were hundreds, if not thousands, of deranged leftists on college campuses capable of committing deadly violence.

Riley Gaines was held hostage by a campus mob. It’s obvious that our college campuses are also infested with violent antisemites. It’s not just one “lone wolf.” These violent radicals are fed by the “sea” they swim in on our campuses and in other groups.

The Trump administration is taking action. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller recently vowed “to use the whole of the federal government to target and dismantle the organized left-wing domestic terrorist movement in the United States.”

Yesterday, the president declared Antifa to be a major terrorist organization.

Another group under investigation is Armed Queers of Salt Lake City. The group’s founder is Ermiya Fanaeian, the transgender child of Iranian immigrants. His social media bio includes, “Revolution + Trans liberation in our lifetime!”

In one interview, Fanaeian declared, “Sometimes violence, protest, and really riots and those kinds of loud rebellions must take place for tangible change.”

He is also a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), an “anti-capitalist, revolutionary movement,” funded by Neville Singham, who has deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

Yet, in spite of these extremist views, Fanaeian received an award from an organization funded by the Biden State Department to “promote citizen diplomacy and international exchange.” He also appeared onstage at a campaign rally for Elizabeth Warren, which shows just how closely connected the Democrat Party is to the extreme fringe.

Bye, Mahmoud

Mahmoud Khalil was one of the chief organizers of the pro-Hamas riots at Columbia University. When the Trump administration attempted to deport him, Khalil became a cause celebre of the Left. Not just at Columbia, but throughout the media establishment and the Democrat Party. They screamed, “This is America! You can’t do this to somebody just because you disagree with them!”

Throughout the controversy, President Trump and Secretary of State Rubio insisted Khalil would be thrown out of the country. Well, an immigration judge just ordered Khalil to be deported because he lied about his previous associations on his visa application. You could get away with that in Joe Biden’s America, but not in Donald Trump’s.

Khalil should be happy. He’s heading back to Syria or to Algeria, where he can find plenty of Jew-haters to hang out with.

His lawyers plan to appeal, but they sound very smart. (No sarcasm intended.) They expressed concern that the appeals process will be “swift and unfavorable.”

Kimmel Kicked Out

Monday night, left-wing host Jimmy Kimmel chimed in on Charlie Kirk’s assassination. He said, “We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”

Kimmel was pushing the disgusting lie that Kirk’s assassin was actually part of MAGA. Last night, ABC announced that Kimmel’s show will be “pre-empted indefinitely” because of his “offensive and insensitive” remarks.

To be clear, Kimmel’s firing wasn’t the result of executives at Disney’s ABC finally discovering their moral compass. It happened because Nexstar Media Group, one of the biggest TV station owners, and Sinclair Broadcast Group, the largest ABC affiliate group, concluded that Kimmel’s leftist bile was hurting their companies.

In fact, Sinclair announced it will air a tribute to Charlie Kirk Friday night during Kimmel’s time slot.

I don’t know exactly what is happening, but it’s significant. It began a week after Donald Trump’s inauguration when CNN fired Jim Acosta. Since then, several media figures, including Joy Reid, Chuck Todd, Lester Holt, and Terry Moran, have either quit or been fired.

Stephen Colbert was canceled. The worst far-left reporters and columnists at the Washington Post either quit or were fired.

By the way, the people screaming about Kimmel being punished for “speech” are the same people who censored conservative speech by labeling it “misinformation.” In most cases, that “misinformation” was actual truth they disagreed with.

They didn’t want to hear the truth about the COVID regime. They didn’t want the American people to hear the truth about Hunter Biden’s laptop. They censored and shut down the actual truth by calling it “Russian disinformation.”

But Jimmy Kimmel spreads actual misinformation/lies on national TV, saying, “Charlie Kirk’s assassin is MAGA,” and the Left thinks it is totally inappropriate to hold Kimmel responsible in any way for telling a blatantly obvious lie.

Kimmel will find other venues. Charlie Kirk will not. His voice/speech has been “censored” forever. And the same leftists defending Kimmel are saying Kirk deserved to die.

Schumer’s Sabotage

Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats have been doing everything they can to sabotage President Trump’s administration and delay his agenda.

A key element of their sabotage has been denying the president the staff he needs to manage the federal government. Schumer has denied Trump’s nominees, even non-controversial nominees with bipartisan support, quick confirmations.

That ends today.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune is set to confirm 48 of President Trump’s nominees in one vote. If the vote succeeds, Thune has indicated he is prepared to advance an even larger number of nominees in the days and weeks ahead.

Trump’s Historic Trip

President Donald Trump made history last night. He became the first American president to be honored with two official state visits to the United Kingdom. His first state visit was in 2019 under Queen Elizabeth II.

Watching the president interact with the royal family, shows they have a close relationship. Trump’s mother, who was Scottish, was a great admirer of the royal family, and the royal family has great respect for Donald Trump. The late queen grew fond of Trump and is said to have thought of him as “my bad boy.”

Having said that, there are tremendous divisions between President Trump and Britain’s socialist Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who is facing the very real possibility of something like a civil war in his country. But they did manage to agree on a major $350 billion “Tech Prosperity Deal.”

By the way, President Trump is under incredible pressure from our European allies to ratchet up the penalties and sanctions on Russian oil and countries that buy Russian oil. But the European nations pressuring Trump continue to trade in Russian energy and with India, which continues to buy Russian oil.

So, Trump told our European friends, “Fine. I’m ready to impose more sanctions on Russia when you stop buying Russian energy.” Again, Trump is absolutely right. It is absurd that Europe is financing both sides of the Ukraine/Russia war.
