The Biden Recession Is Here
Well, the news we all knew was coming arrived this morning. The Biden recession is here. The latest gross domestic product (GDP) figures show the economy shrank by 0.9% in the second quarter. The “experts” had predicted minimal but still positive 0.3% growth.
As you’ll recall, economic activity fell 1.6% in the first quarter. Now, Biden Administration officials and their media allies can argue all they want about whether that meets the “technical” definition of a recession. The American people have already made up their minds.
- 65% of Americans believe we’re already in a recession
- 75% of middle-class Americans say they are falling behind financially.
- Consumer confidence has cratered, and 52% of Americans say they are worse off today than they were one year ago.
Good luck telling them, “Everything is just fine. Don’t believe your lying eyes.”
Manchin Caves
West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin stunned Washington late yesterday afternoon. He announced that he had struck a deal with Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer to advance Joe Biden’s latest tax and spend socialist scheme.
They’re calling it the “Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.” Right. Just like Obamacare was the “Affordable Healthcare Act.” In fact, a big part of this bill involves putting hundreds of billions of additional dollars into Obamacare because it is NOT affordable.
Democrats were facing an existential crisis with massive Obamacare premium increases set to take effect at the end of year. That largely explains why Manchin caved on this reconciliation bill.
But his “coal country” constituents will likely be furious over the $370 billion price tag allocated for so-called “alternative” energy. All the solar energy stocks were soaring this morning because we’re going to run the world’s largest economy on solar power, right?
Not surprisingly, leftists are celebrating Manchin’s first installment on the “Green New Deal.” Rep. Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, praised the Manchin-Schumer agreement as a “very, very major step forward.”
Chuck Schumer said the bill will be, “By a wide margin . . . the greatest pro-climate legislation that has ever been passed by Congress.” Schumer also hailed the bill for including “$60 billion in environmental justice priorities.”
We all know what that means – more giveaways to far-left activist groups and Democrat pet projects. We should call this bill, “Building Biden’s Boondoggles.”
Remember how those “green energy” projects from the Obama/Biden stimulus deal went? Bust and belly up. Why are we doing it again? Well, because the same leftists who failed then are in charge now.
There’s $20 billion to “cut emissions in the agriculture sector.” That’s not exactly going well in other nations that have tried it.
The bill provides billions of dollars in subsidies for expensive electric cars. Meanwhile, Ford announced it is laying off thousands of workers in order to comply with green energy mandates. Adding insult to injury, Ford and GM are building electric cars in Mexico!
Sen. Mitch McConnell blasted this monstrosity, saying:
“[Democrats] want job-killing tax hikes so they can finance new handouts for wealthy households earning up to $300,000 a year to buy an $80,000 electric car. Democrats want to subsidize rich people buying electric cars that cost more than the median American household earns in an entire year.”
But if the Democrats stick together they will pass it with cackling Kamala Harris, whose pronouns are she/her, breaking the tie.
Sadly for America, we cannot count on Joe Manchin to resist the demands of his party.
“Shooting For Three”
Law enforcement officials have released additional, chilling details about the plot to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh. And it wasn’t just Kavanaugh who was in danger.
The deranged man who traveled from California to the Washington, D.C., suburbs searched the Internet for terms like the most “effective place to stab someone,” “assassin skills” and “quietest semi auto rifle.” He also researched the assassination attempt against Ronald Reagan.
In online chats and forums, he was very open about his intentions. In one women’s forum, he wrote, “Would Kavanaugh being removed from the [Supreme Court] help women long term?”
In a chatroom, he admitted that he was going to “remove some people from the Supreme Court,” adding that he was “shooting for 3,” in the hopes of “changing the votes for decades to come.”
In other words, he clearly understood what he was doing. He was prepared to wipe out half of the court’s conservative majority to preserve abortion on demand and so that the left could rule the country.
Every major news outlet wants to drop this story.
Meanwhile, the entire Democrat Party complex, every pro-abortion, left-wing group in the country, the president, the vice president, the attorney general and congressional Democrats continue to use rhetoric that is going to result in dead Supreme Court justices.
Clarence vs. Cancel Culture
For the past 11 years, Justice Clarence Thomas has taught a course on constitutional law at George Washington University. The students who took those courses benefitted greatly from Justice Thomas’s knowledge and experience.
But this year is different. Radical, pro-abortion students launched a petition to get Thomas fired. While the reasons are not immediately known, the university announced yesterday that Thomas would not be participating in this year’s constitutional law seminar.
George Washington Law Professor Jonathan Turley, who is no conservative, said on Fox News this morning that this decision was a “tragedy.” Thomas was known on campus for how much he cared about the students, how he went out of his way to help them and give them guidance, regardless of their ideology.
Thomas has more decency in his right pinky finger than today’s intolerant leftist students!
In fact, Justice Sonia Sotomayor recently praised Thomas for his kindness and humility. He is a genuinely good man who treats everyone equally.
In addition, he has a tremendous story to tell about America and what people can overcome in this land of opportunity.
Clarence Thomas is a living testament to the American Dream. Born into abject poverty in the segregated South, today he is the longest-serving justice on the Supreme Court.
Every day, Thomas disproves the left’s false narrative that America is a “systemically racist country.”
And that’s why the left despises him so much!
The attempt to assassinate Brett Kavanaugh’s character during his confirmation hearings and the refusal to tone down their rhetoric after an assassination attempt on his life, combined with the campaign to cancel a black justice and smear his wife tells you everything you need to know.
Today’s left is driven by nothing other than the desire to rule or ruin. They will use whatever tactic they have to use. They will deploy left-wing stormtroopers and encourage assassins. This is who they are.
Traditional Republican candidates who don’t understand that are not going to succeed.
This is not Ronald Reagan’s “morning in America.”
This is potentially the “mourning of America” unless Republicans wake up.
The GOP’s biggest problem is not Donald Trump. Its biggest problem is that far too many Republican “leaders” still don’t understand the nature of the battle we’re in.
On The Brink
Two polls just came out indicating that we may well lose seats in the Senate this year.
A far-left Marxist candidate in Pennsylvania is several points ahead of his Republican opponent. How? Pennsylvania is a purple state. Republicans control the legislature. But the state’s most left-wing figure is in the lead.
Well, the answer is simple. He’s a populist, and we live in a populist age. That’s why establishment Republicanism doesn’t work.
The public will either elect a right-wing populist or left-wing populist. And they may go with the left-wing populist if they feel he is better addressing their concerns.
In Georgia, the Senate race is a toss-up, with the far-left Democrat incumbent holding a slight lead. Governor Brian Kemp leads Stacey Abrams by only five points.
Joe Biden’s approval rating in Georgia is just 35%. So, how are Democrats at all competitive?
In my view, Republicans are still not providing the American people with a sufficient explanation for why they deserve to be in power. That means dealing with all the issues – the economy, education, fighting the left’s assault on America, resisting the left’s radical gender ideology and the left’s war on faith.
There’s another issue on this list that every supposedly wise Republican is saying the public doesn’t care about. That is the issue of cheating in the 2020 election and election integrity going forward. Once again, those nice Republican leaders have it wrong.
A recent Rasmussen poll found that 55% of voters believe that cheating impacted the results of the 2020 election. Rasmussen also found that 83% of the public is concerned about election integrity going forward.
We have allowed Democrats and the media to stop us from talking about fair elections for fear they will say we are “undermining democracy.” It’s the cheating in our elections that’s undermining our democracy, not conservatives demanding that something be done about it!
Republicans need to stop internalizing what Washington Beltway elites think, and start articulating what American voters believe!
