Monday, August 17, 2026 -- America's Soul-Sucking Enemy, Barbarians Inside The Gates, Can El-Sayed Condemn Islamists

America’s Soul-Sucking Enemy

Let’s talk about Abraham Lincoln. Not the Civil War president, but the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. Its crew of more than 4,000 sailors is completing a 260-day tour protecting the national security of the United States and defending the American people.

The sailors and pilots on Lincoln have taken on two enemies. One is a murderous enemy and the other is a “soul-sucking” enemy.

The murderous enemy is the radical Islamist Iranian regime. They would have sunk the Lincoln if they could have, and they would have praised Allah for it. The head of Iran’s army just promised a $30,000 bounty for killing or capturing American soldiers. The brave men and women on the USS Abraham Lincoln prevailed in every battle with the enemy.

The soul-sucking enemy is the American Left and the politicians corrupted by the Left’s ideology. Never in our history has the party out of power and virtually the entire media complex been so committed to undermining our military morale as they are now in the war against Iran’s radical mullahs.

Breaking the will of a nation’s people and military is the goal of war. And powerful people in our country have tried to do that not to Iran, but to us. We are living in evil times.

Leftists in Congress and the media have done everything they could to undermine the sailors and airmen on the USS Abraham Lincoln. They were gleeful anytime they could say, “America’s mission in Iran has failed.”

It’s hard to comprehend that there are people so filled with hate that they would aid and abet one of the world’s most brutal regimes by undermining our sons and daughters serving in the military.

After their country was occupied by Nazi Germany in World War II, some French women decided the best way to save themselves was to cohabitate with German soldiers in exchange for those soldiers protecting them.

But after France was liberated, thousands of French women accused of “horizontal collaboration” with the Germans had their heads shaved by an outraged public. They were marched through the streets of French cities to be scorned by the crowds. Some fled France, never to return again.

I don’t think our problem with traitors will be solved that easily.

Barbarians Inside The Gates

No one doubts that Speaker Mike Johnson is a committed Christian. (By the way, he was a volunteer on my Louisiana primary campaign when I ran for the 2000 GOP presidential nomination.)

He’s not only a Christian, he is a conservative who believes America is an exceptional nation because it was blessed by God. That’s why he is speaking out so clearly about the threat of godless Marxist communism that is spreading in our country. It is a political Trojan horse that is just as dangerous as the one portrayed in the blockbuster movie The Odyssey

Speaking on Fox News this weekend, Speaker Johnson said:

“Communism is anti-American. It’s the opposite of our ideals. We’re one nation under God. Communism begins with the premise that there is no God. The state is the god effectively. . . It never works, and it ends in poverty, destruction, political violence and human suffering. That is the story of communism. . .

“But that’s where we are right now. . . The barbarians are inside the gate. It’s very, very serious.”

The Day A Russian Saw Our Supermarkets

In 1989, rising Soviet politician Boris Yeltsin came to the United States. During a visit to the Houston Space Center, he instructed his motorcade to make an unscheduled stop at an area grocery store. He wanted to know if the stories were true—that American grocery stores are stocked full with a wide variety of products and choices.

Yeltsin was stunned. What he saw in that Houston grocery store made him realize what a failure communism truly was. He later wrote in his autobiography:

“When I saw those shelves crammed with hundreds, thousands of cans, cartons and goods of every possible sort, for the first time I felt quite frankly sick with despair for the Soviet people. That such a potentially super-rich country as ours has been brought to a state of such poverty! It is terrible to think of it.”

Of course, the grocery stores of the Soviet Union were government controlled, and they were frequently empty of actual food.

It has always been this way. Under socialism, the average Venezuelan lost 24 pounds involuntarily. In Cuba, toilet paper is a luxury item.

But the socialists of America don’t know our history, and they are ignoring the history of socialism. Or maybe they don’t care as we see New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani trying to open up government-run grocery stores, even though they have already failed in other left-wing American cities.

Can El-Sayed Condemn Islamists?

Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed is scheduled to address the Islamic Society of North America’s (ISNA) annual convention over Labor Day weekend. His father-in-law is a member of the ISNA’s Founders Committee and has connections to the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood.

Another speaker at the convention is Tariq Masood, a Jew-hating cleric from Pakistan who “forced his 13-year-old niece into marriage.” El-Sayed probably accepted this invitation before winning the Democrat Senate primary. I wouldn’t be surprised if he cancels his speech, citing the demands of the campaign as a way of distancing himself from Masood and other Islamic extremists speaking at the convention.

What he might also do, but I don’t believe he will, is go to the convention and say, “I see Tariq Masood is also speaking here. I totally condemn his extremist views. That is not Islam.”

Remarks like that distancing himself from radical Islam would probably get him elected as Michigan’s next senator. Of course, he wouldn’t mean a word of it. But Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed is so ideological, I doubt he will do what is in his own self-interest.
