Great Progress

Negotiations between the United States and Iran got off to a rough start yesterday in Switzerland. Responding to reports that Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz again over continued fighting in Lebanon, President Trump warned on social media:

“Iran must immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble. If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!!”

The Iranian delegation threatened to walk out over the president’s warning. But they stayed, and the talks continued. Vice President J.D. Vance, who is in Switzerland leading the U.S. delegation, gave reporters an update this morning. He said that in spite of the “threatening” and “whining” from the Iranians, “great progress” was eventually made. Oil prices fell again today.

Meanwhile, a new CBS News/YouGov poll makes it clear where the American people stand. When asked what the United States should do, 78% said “End the conflict now.” Only 22% said “Continue the conflict until Iran gives up more.”

Looking Ahead

I have been really impressed with Secretary of State Marco Rubio over the past year. He has truly grown into the role and unapologetically puts America first. 

But Vice President Vance is also very impressive. He has handled the hostile media and these difficult negotiations well. He speaks off the cuff and sounds like a normal person, not a pandering politician. 

Republicans are blessed to have a deep bench of solid leaders for the future. 

Mamdani vs. Pelosi

We’ve been telling you about the godless, Marxist Islamists who are seriously competing in or winning Democrat primaries all over the country. We will get another gauge of the Left’s strength tomorrow in New York’s primary elections. 

Mayor Zohran Mamdani is backing far-left candidates in three congressional districts. One, Claire Valdez, is running in an open Democrat primary, and two, Brad Lander and Darializa Avila Chevalier, are challenging Democrat incumbents. Of course, they are all anti-Israel. 

Avila Chevalier has attracted the most attention. She literally insists that prisons must be abolished. When asked where or how she would confine a murderer, she refused to answer the question. 

She says that no one—literally no one, not even criminal illegal aliens—should ever be deported because it amounts to double punishment. She also wants to abolish federal immigration police and our borders.

So, open borders, no prisons and don’t deport criminal illegal aliens. And we’re supposed to believe that these are the people who want America to be “a better place.” 

She also wants to give everyone in the country $3,000 a month for life as a base income. These ludicrous economic ideas may sound attractive, but they come with horrendous strings attached, like murderers wandering the streets. 

Nancy Pelosi has been a dominant figure in Democrat politics for decades. She has gone to New York and campaigned for the incumbent Democrats these socialists are trying to defeat. While the media obsesses over every disagreement among Republicans, there is a real civil war taking place on the Left.

Complacency Kills

Complacency is a “killer” in many aspects of life, whether it’s in the business world or even national security. It certainly is when it comes to politics.

Some people argue that these radical leftists winning their party’s nominations are good news for conservatives because it will be easier to defeat them in November. I understand the argument, but there are two important points to keep in mind.

First, many of them are running in solidly Democrat districts that no Republican would ever win. Their goal of taking over the country begins by taking over the Democrat Party, and they are well on their way.

Second, polling suggests some of these socialists are surprisingly strong candidates. 

• In Maine, Graham Platner chased a sitting governor out of the Democrat primary and currently leads Republican Senator Susan Collins.
• In Michigan, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed is essentially tied with Republican Mike Rogers.
• In Texas, James Talarico has a slight lead over Attorney General Ken Paxton. He was leading John Cornyn, too. 

All of these races are winnable—IF Republican voters don’t get complacent. And they shouldn’t because it can’t be good for America to have the Democrat Party completely taken over by Marxists and Islamists. 

Left-wing Lunacy

The cultural barbarians on the Left are continuing their insane war on normalcy. Here’s the latest.

• The New York Times desecrated Father’s Day by running an opinion piece written by a woman claiming to be a “trans dad.” But the opinion piece wasn’t run as a traditional column. Instead, it was a series of cartoons—once again highlighting how the LGBTQ movement continues to propagandize our children.
• Speaking of propaganda, the first “transgender” individual ever elected to the New Hampshire legislature was just sentenced to 33 years in jail for child pornography. But many media outlets are spreading the lies of the Left by referring to this male pervert as “she.”
• Preschools in Cambridge, Massachusetts, are asking parents when they register their children whether their three, four or five-year-olds are “nonbinary.”

Ruining The Reflecting Pool

It’s not making big headlines, but multiple leftists have been arrested over the past week in Washington, D.C. These radicals are attempting to ruin the renovation of the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall because Donald Trump tried to clean it up.

This isn’t like opposition to the White House ballroom, which some claim is a “vanity project driven by Trump’s ego.” It’s understandable why some people might be concerned about tearing down the East Wing of the White House.

But renovating the Reflecting Pool is about making monuments look like they belong in the capital of the most powerful country in the world. They will continue to reflect our country long after Trump is gone. 

This renovation was not easy. The entire pool had to be drained. It was leaking thousands of gallons of water every day. Algae has been an ongoing problem for many years. 

But when President Trump launched the renovation of the Reflecting Pool, CNN launched an investigation to undermine it, and there has been constant vandalism. Now, CNN is complaining that it’s not much better at the same time some people are trying to make it worse. 

The unhinged leftists vandalizing the Reflecting Pool hate beauty. They are furious that President Trump wants new buildings in Washington, D.C., to reflect classical Greek and Roman architecture. 

The rejection of beauty in everything is a mainstay of the modern Marxist Left. They don’t want to remind us of past glory. They would rather force people to dodge human excrement in the streets than allow them to enjoy the beautiful and historic Reflecting Pool on the National Mall. 

Starmer Steps Down

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced this morning that he will resign his position in September. Why the delay? He is waiting for the Labour Party to go through the process of selecting a new leader and will step down after Parliament returns from its summer recess. 

Starmer came under intense pressure to resign after his party suffered massive losses in local elections last month. He has also been tainted by his relationship with Peter Mandelson, a close associate of Jeffrey Epstein.

Starmer’s successor will be Great Britain’s sixth prime minister in the last seven years. I don’t think Britain needs to be worried about the health of our Republic. The bad news is that the man most likely to replace Starmer, Andy Burnham, is even further to the left than Starmer.
