We Have A Deal
President Trump announced yesterday that U.S. and Iranian negotiators had agreed to a tentative peace agreement. And this time, Iran did not deny it. Iranian President Mahmoud Pezeshkian confirmed that “the memorandum of understanding to end the war between Iran and America is scheduled to be [formally] signed on Friday.”
Democrats say President Trump has alienated our allies. Well, multiple world leaders praised President Trump for what he accomplished and pledged their assistance in clearing mines from the Strait of Hormuz. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said:
“I warmly welcome today’s agreement reached between the United States and Iran. This is a hugely important step forward in ending the war, ensuring regional stability and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. I congratulate President Trump and the mediators . . . who have contributed to this breakthrough.”
German Chancellor Frederich Mertz declared:
“I welcome the agreement between the U.S. and Iran and congratulate President Trump and the Iranian side on this diplomatic breakthrough. This can pave the way towards a reinvigorated global economy and a more secure Middle East.”
The financial markets rallied this morning, and oil prices took another big drop, trading at their lowest level in three months. Depending on the area of the country, gasoline prices are down 50 to 75 cents from their peak in May and will hopefully continue to fall.
But a word of caution: Multiple nations will have to refill their strategic oil reserves, including the United States. Our strategic petroleum reserve was already low because Joe Biden depleted it for political purposes and Democrats wouldn’t give President Trump money to refill it.
Sadly, we live in an alarmist society where everything is an emergency, especially if it’s done by Donald Trump. When the war broke out, every major TV network other than Fox immediately called it “a disaster” that would send oil to $250 a barrel, destroying family budgets and the economy. During the conflict, Brent crude peaked at $126 a barrel. Today, it’s $84 a barrel.
The Enemy Within
The peace deal begins a 60-day window of negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program. Of course, it could all unravel at any moment. But President Trump accomplished this in spite of every Democrat and their media allies doing everything they could to undermine the war effort.
They undermined the morale of our troops. They said the mission was a failure. They said America lost the war.
Think about this, my friends, because it will affect every future military conflict we are in. We are in a war with radical Islamists who chant, “Death to Israel! Death to America!” They kill women who don’t cover their heads. They execute homosexuals.
Yet, in a conflict with that evil, the leadership of the Democrat Party and 95% of the media took the side of the Islamists over the United States of America.
The Atlantic must have had their response to the deal—any deal—prewritten. They declared with glee that Trump lost the war and that the peace deal, which they haven’t seen, is “an Iranian victory.”
Countering The Spin
We’ll see how the rest of the week goes, but here are some thoughts to counter the media’s talking points and the Left’s spin on the deal ending the war with Iran.
Left-wing pundits are saying, “No one has seen the agreement. It’s Trump’s word or the mullahs.” That’s not a tough call for me or most Americans, but it is for many leftists.
Vice President Vance is going to Geneva to sign the deal. Barack Obama never signed anything. His agreement with Iran was full of secret side deals. And while the United Nations got to vote on it, the United States Senate never did.
One of the truths that was revealed during the conflict is how unreliable our NATO allies are.
- Spain’s socialist government refused to allow the United States to use our own military bases in Spain.
- It took Great Britain, once a great naval power, weeks to get one ship to the region where the energy comes from that keeps the lights on in Britain.
- France and Britain did nothing to help us escort ships out of the Strait of Hormuz.
- European leaders carped at us the whole time. Now, they are so happy over what President Trump has accomplished, and they are prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure the peace agreement holds.
As you know, the president has blasted NATO leaders for not keeping up their defense commitments to the alliance. But it’s not just Trump who is complaining. Two top British defense officials resigned in the past week, saying that President Trump is right—Prime Minister Keir Starmer is refusing to adequately fund Britain’s defense budget.
Standing With America
The U.S.-Israeli war against the Iranian regime could have caused all the majority-Muslim nations in the Middle East to side with Tehran. They did not, and that is very revealing.
Many Arab nations were already moving in the right direction, thanks to the Abraham Accords. But they know who the real enemy is. Iran’s conduct throughout this conflict drove them further into an alliance with the United States.
In a related matter, 24 nations issued a joint statement to Iran condemning its policy of exporting terrorism, including assassins to kill the regime’s opponents, around the world. Not only did nothing like that happen under Joe Biden, he never tried. The only thing he succeeded in doing was alienating Arab nations so much that their leaders refused to take his calls.
Packing The Court
There was another wake-up call delivered this weekend to a Republican Party that still has a bunch of sleepwalkers, especially in the Senate. Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is the latest Democrat presidential wannabe to call for the “fundamental transformation” of the Supreme Court.
Here’s what Buttigieg said to make packing the court sound less extreme:
“We have to do [something] with the Supreme Court, that is now a rogue Supreme Court. . . Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that there has to be nine Supreme Court justices. That one doesn’t even take a constitutional amendment. It just takes a readiness to set up a court that fits this country. We could have 13 seats matching the [appellate court] structure of the federal judiciary.”
That’s how Democrats will sell packing the Supreme Court to the American people.
Supreme Court justices are each responsible for handling emergency appeals from the 13 federal circuit courts. Obviously, a couple of justices must handle more than one circuit court of appeals. Chief Justice Roberts, for example, oversees three appeals courts.
So, to justify packing the court with more left-wing judicial activists, Democrats claim that it’s only logical to make it one justice per circuit court of appeals. That would give them four new justices, creating a 7 to 6 liberal majority. Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock (D) said yesterday that “all options are on the table” when it comes to reforming the Supreme Court.
Pete Buttigieg is telling us exactly what Democrats intend to do. It’s a wake-up call for us, and it’s a bugle call to the Left. I guarantee you they will do it as Democrats elect more socialists and Islamists to solidly Blue districts. They are methodically eliminating any “moderate” voices within their party.
Meanwhile, some Republicans are still stuck in the past. Senators Cornyn, Murkowski and Tillis are busy defending their precious “traditions” and telling conservatives not to go “too far,” while Democrats tell the whole country exactly what they intend to do.
Late last week, Texas Senator John Cornyn attacked a conservative organizer as a “grifter.” That’s harsher language than I have ever heard him use against Democrats!
Democrats must laugh at these idiot GOP senators who are telling us not to fight back. If Democrats wanted to elect fake Republican senators who would work for them, how would they be different from Tillis and Murkowski?
UFC Fight Night
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) held an incredible event on the White House lawn last night. An estimated 85,000 attended, with the vast majority watching on giant screens set up on the Ellipse.
I was struck by the number of contestants who took the opportunity to profess their faith in Jesus Christ after they won. Their remarks went way beyond what other athletes say. After winning his bout, Brazilian fighter Mauricio Ruffy said:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus saved my life; he wants to save your life, too. Give your life to Jesus.”
The entire evening was an unbelievable embrace of faith, family and freedom.
Many in the media and on the Left were extremely critical of this event. They said it was degrading to the historic building. At least there weren’t a bunch of freaks running around the White House lawn showing off their fake breasts like we had to endure under Joe Biden.
There were videos throughout the UFC event extolling the greatness of America, making the critics even angrier that the event took place.
UFC is one of the fastest-growing sports in America. It has a huge following, particularly among young men. Democrats eagerly embrace the guy with a Nazi tattoo who thinks America is evil and abuses his girlfriends. But the Left hates the young men we saw competing last night.
