Trounced In Texas
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton trounced incumbent Senator John Cornyn for the GOP Senate nomination yesterday. Paxton’s 64% to 36% win was a humiliating repudiation of the GOP establishment.
Texas voters rejected the party’s warnings that Paxton was a loser and Cornyn was a winner. They voted for a fighter, which is why President Trump endorsed Paxton.
Over and over GOP consultants insisted that if Paxton won the nomination, the party would have to spend $100 million defending the seat. Well, they just wasted $100 million trying to elect John Cornyn. That money could have been better spent in states like Georgia, Maine, Michigan and North Carolina—all states with close Senate races.
The fact that Cornyn needed to spend $100 million to defend his renomination should have been a big red flag to party leaders that maybe, just maybe he really wasn’t all that electable after nearly 24 years in the U.S. Senate.
Paxton’s opponent, Democrat state Representative James Talarico, is already attacking Paxton on “corruption.” Those attacks didn’t work for John Cornyn. They didn’t work for George P. Bush, who challenged Paxton in 2022. And they haven’t worked for Democrats in any of Paxton’s three previous general elections.
Next only to Donald Trump, there is no conservative the Uniparty establishment has spent more money trying to defeat than Ken Paxton! Yet he has survived every time. Why? Because he’s a fighter!
Just Another Beto
Every cycle, Texas Democrats hype up a nominee they claim has cracked the code to turning Texas Blue. Remember pro-abortion Wendy Davis? She was going to take down Gov. Greg Abbot in 2014. She lost by 20 points.
Beto O’Rourke was once a rising star in the Democrat Party. He lost the 2018 Senate race to Ted Cruz and the 2022 race for governor. Democrats made another run at Ted Cruz in 2024 with former NFL player Colin Allred. Despite outspending Cruz by $20 million, Allred lost by nearly one million votes.
James Talarico is just another Beto O’Rouke—the latest leftist loser in a long line of leftist losers. As I have previously noted, Talarico is radically out of step with Texas values. From abortion to the border, boys in girls’ bathrooms, the Bible and even barbecue brisket, Talarico is more San Francisco than Texas.
That said, Republicans can’t take anything for granted. Democrats believe Talarico is their template to fooling just enough Christian voters to win elections. They will throw everything they have—including the kitchen sink—into this race.
Other Results
In other notable results, Rep. Chip Roy (R) lost the runoff to be the next attorney general of Texas to state Representative Mayes Middleton.
Serial impeacher and anti-Israel Rep. Al Green (D) won’t be coming back to Congress. The 12-term incumbent lost the primary runoff last night to Rep. Christian Menefee (D) who has been in office for all of three months! Menefee will have no trouble holding the solidly Democrat 18th Congressional District in November.
Former Congressman Colin Allred (D) will be returning to Congress after he defeated incumbent Democrat Julie Johnson in the 33rd District.
Maureen Galindo lost the runoff for the Democrat nomination in the open 35th Congressional District. Galindo was the nutjob who said Zionists, Christians and Jews who support Israel, should be put in jail and castrated. While she lost the runoff, she still got 36% of the vote.
Really? Thirty-six percent of Democrats think that’s a good idea?!
Vance Fights Fraud
President Trump has assigned Vice President J.D. Vance with a huge task—rooting out fraud in the federal government. Vance is already off to a strong start by suspending more than 400 fake healthcare companies in Los Angeles alone. Vance also warned all 50 states to crack down on fraud or risk losing federal funding.
The vice president then invited state attorneys general to the White House to discuss ways they and the federal government can work together to prevent taxpayer dollars from being ripped off. But Democrat attorneys general boycotted the meeting.
Fraud is a huge problem. The Government Accountability Office estimated that the government loses as much as $500 billion a year to fraud. That’s your tax money stolen, wasted and not going to the people who need it most.
In contrast to the Biden/Harris administration, which fueled fraud, the Trump/Vance administration is serious about fighting fraud.
Marxist Mayor Mamdani
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is going full Marxist now. He’s vowing to seize private property. In announcing his “revolutionary” housing plan, Mamdani declared:
“We will take aggressive legal action to remove negligent owners and property managers, and . . . we will work to transfer ownership to responsible stewards. Stewards that include community land trusts, non-profits, or even the tenants themselves.”
In other words, the government will confiscate property, and it will either manage it directly or the government will give the property to others it deems worthy. But the government doesn’t manage anything particularly well. Think “public housing.”
Moreover, we have seen time and time again how government “partnerships” with non-profit groups are often just graft for left-wing activists. Nothing Mamdani is proposing will do anything to make housing in New York City more affordable.
Another part of his plan calls for converting apartment buildings into “resident-controlled affordable cooperatives.” That sounds like collectivism. And don’t forget that Mamdani appointed an actual communist to be his “housing czar.” Cea Weaver said that “private property,” including homeownership, “is a weapon of white supremacy.”
Meanwhile, Mamdani continues to stoke discord and division. The mayor is refusing to attend the annual Israel Day Parade this weekend. It will be the first time since the 1960s that a New York City mayor has not participated in the parade.
In addition, an interfaith coalition of Christians, Jews and moderate Muslims held a demonstration outside of Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s residence, last night. Anila Ali, president of the American Muslim & Multifaith Women’s Empowerment Council, said that Mamdani is a product of the Muslim Brotherhood, and radical Islamists like Mamdani have “hijacked” her faith.
The Big Apple’s radical Islamists weren’t pleased by Ms. Ali’s protest. Democratic socialist Councilwoman Shahana Hanif blasted Ali, writing, “May Allah condemn you to Jahannam” or the Islamic version of hell.
Redistricting Wars
Republicans faced two setbacks this week in their efforts to realign congressional maps following the Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais that struck down racially gerrymandered districts.
Just like the debacle in Indiana, a dozen Republican state senators in South Carolina joined with Democrats to defeat a plan to redraw the state’s map. The new map would have eliminated the seat currently held by incumbent Democrat James Clyburn, who has been in Congress for more than 33 years.
Federal judges intervened yesterday to block a new map in Alabama that would have shifted the state’s House delegation from 5 to 2 Republican to 6 to 1 Republican. The action by these judges defies logic, as the Supreme Court took unprecedented actions following the Callais decision to allow Alabama legislators to redraw their congressional map.
Alabama officials filed an emergency appeal with the Supreme Court today to reinstate the new map.
Freedom’s Warriors
America just observed Memorial Day 2026. Every Memorial Day is poignant, meaningful, a time of remembrance, and, hopefully, gratitude. This year’s observance seemed even more so as America celebrates its 250th birthday. But even before we were a nation, our heroes fought and died for our freedom.
