Monday, November 20, 2023 -- A Huge Confession, Kowtowing To China, Get Out

A Huge COVID Confession

The New York Times editorial board made a huge confession Saturday.  It came just days before Thanksgiving, so most Americans probably didn’t notice.  But I noticed because, once again, some on the left are having to concede that conservatives were right.  Of course, the New York Times did not admit that.

But it did admit what we and many conservatives have said all along:  The closure of our schools during the COVID pandemic was the biggest educational disaster in history.

We lost 20 years of progress in math and reading.  The Times editorial notes that the fallout will linger for years as chronic absenteeism remains a huge problem even now.  For two years children were told that school wasn’t essential, and they got the message.

As a result, “Economists are predicting that this generation, with such a significant educational gap, will experience diminished lifetime earnings and become a significant drag on the economy.”

The worst part about all of this is that it was totally avoidable.  This was a huge, self-inflicted wound.  It wasn’t required by the reality of the health crisis we were facing.

We knew children were at very little risk of serious illness and death from COVID.  Children were far more likely to die from car accidents, drowning or cancer than COVID.  That’s why most European schools quickly reopened or never really closed at all.

But every big city in America closed their schools.  Why?  Because people like Anthony Fauci scared everyone to death.  And the left-wing teachers’ unions acted like unions instead of teachers responsible for educating our children.

When the COVID vaccines became available, teachers were given priority, sent to the front of the line to get the vaccines, just like first responders, because we needed them to go back to work.  But they refused.

Congress approved nearly $200 billion to make our schools safer.  But the unions demanded zero risk.  It was so bad that Joe Biden’s CDC would not issue school reopening guidelines without first getting approval from the leftist teachers’ unions bosses.

There was one prominent political figure in America who kept saying, “Open the schools!”  That was Donald Trump.  But Randi Weingarten, president of a major teachers’ union, accused Trump of “playing with kids’ lives.”  Some even claimed it was “racist” to reopen our schools.  (Seriously, you can’t make this up!)

It ended up that the people who really didn’t care about our kids were Biden’s bureaucrats and the radical teachers’ unions, who deprived our children of the education they desperately needed.

Kowtowing To China

All kinds of mistakes were made during the pandemic.  Democrat governors put COVID patients in nursing homes, condemning thousands of senior citizens.  Mask mandates were pointless.

When the vaccines were first introduced, we were told we would need a booster.  Then another and another.  Now we’re being told we need it every year, but it doesn’t prevent you from getting sick.

Meanwhile, the same government that came down on us like a hammer is curiously uninterested in how the virus got out of China and infected the rest of the world.  To this day, there’s virtually no interest in pursuing it, except among conservative Republicans.

All the best indications suggest, at the very least, that the pandemic was the result of a leak out of the Wuhan lab.  But it’s possible that COVID-19 was intentionally leaked out of the lab.

Meanwhile, Xi Jinping, the dictator of communist China, came to San Francisco last week and got standing ovations from America’s corporate titans. People like Tim Cook of Apple, hedge fund honchos like Ray Dailo of Bridgewater and Stephen Schwarzman of the Blackstone Group and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

These people got richer during the pandemic while small businesses were crushed.

And who was representing the American people during all of this?  Precious few people in our governing or business class seemingly have America’s best interests at heart.

After what we went through, it’s surprising that most Americans don’t consider themselves populists or part of the America First movement.

By the way, the Biden Administration is now desperately trying to recruit thousands of veterans it forced out of the military with its insane vaccine mandates.

Johnson Releases The Video

Late Friday, Speaker Mike Johnson announced that he was releasing virtually all of the surveillance video from Capitol Hill during January 6th.  Over the weekend, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) called for an investigation of the January 6th Committee, asking why it never released the video.

I fully support Sen. Lee’s call for a thorough investigation of Nancy Pelosi’s kangaroo court, otherwise known as the January 6th Committee.  After all, the former chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), admitted that he and other committee members didn’t actually review the surveillance video themselves.

Sadly, a thorough investigation could prove difficult as it has been reported that the committee destroyed many of its records.  Usually, that’s a major violation of rules and might be considered obstruction of justice.

After the 2022 elections, presumed Speaker Kevin McCarthy warned the committee to preserve its records.  But they learned from Hillary Clinton and from Robert Mueller’s team, and they destroyed their records anyway.  No one in the “lamestream media” seems to care.

Happy Birthday, Joe!

It’s Joe Biden’s 81st birthday today, but folks at the White House aren’t in much of a celebratory mood.  He just got some seriously bad news from the latest NBC News poll.

The poll found Biden’s job approval rating at its lowest point ever – just 40% approved, while 57% disapproved of Biden’s performance as president.  Digging a little deeper into the poll, there’s more bad news for Biden, but also bad news for Israel and America.

Among Americans 65 and older, 53% approve of Biden’s handling of the Hamas-Israel war, while 41% disapprove.  But among those ages 18 to 34, just 20% approve and 70% disapprove.  Sadly, a recent Quinnipiac poll found a similar generational divide on Israel.  Young Democrats are overwhelmingly anti-Israel.

That huge discrepancy has everything to do with the radical neo-Marxist indoctrination in our schools over the past 20 years.  The older you are, the more pro-Israel you are because you weren’t taught in high school and college to hate Western Judeo-Christian civilization.  You weren’t taught to hate America and Israel.

This is a major problem for Democrats that isn’t going away anytime soon.

We saw the first tremors back in 2012 when delegates at the Democrat National Convention booed the inclusion of God and Israel in the party’s platform.  Last week, the North Carolina Democrat Party’s executive committee voted against recognizing the North Carolina Democrat Jewish Caucus.

There was another data point in the NBC News poll that stunned political observers.  Looking to the 2024 election, Trump led Biden by two points – 46% to 44%.

Some might say, “Big deal.  It’s only two points.”  Well, that’s the first time Donald Trump has ever had a lead in the history of NBC’s polling.  Their polls have consistently shown him losing, so the fact that he’s up two points is huge.

Argentina Embraces Freedom

Voters in Argentina just elected Javier Milei, a libertarian economist described as “Trump on steroids,” as its new president in a 56% to 44% landslide.  Left-wing reporters around the world are having a nervous breakdown.  Here’s how the Washington Post described the results in Argentina:

“A radical libertarian and admirer of Donald Trump rode a wave of voter rage to win Argentina’s presidency on Sunday, crushing the political establishment and bringing the sharpest turn to the right in four decades of democracy in the country.”

I look forward to the Post essentially reprinting this paragraph to describe our election results in November 2024!

“Get Out!”

Even though it can be hard to see sometimes, I think the American people are moving in our direction.  Consider Megan Kelly, for example.  She was pretty mushy for years at Fox News.

But check out her commentary on the anti-Semitic, pro-Hamas marches we have seen in many cities and on many college campuses.  She doesn’t hold anything back, telling the demonstrators:

“You don’t like America?  Get out! Get out!  We don’t want you here either.  You don’t want to be here? . . .  Go home!”
