“It Had To Be Wu”

 

That’s the headline on the front page of today’s New York Post, referring to the shocking new government report that COVID-19 likely came out of communist China’s Wuhan lab.  That conclusion is the result of new intelligence analyzed by the Department of Energy. 

 

Granted, the Energy Department might seem like an odd place to be commenting on the origins of COVID-19.  But the department actually supervises the nation’s nuclear weapons arsenal and maintains a network of advanced research labs.  

 

It’s not clear what the new intelligence is that pushed the Energy Department in this direction, but the FBI also agrees with the conclusion COVID-19 most likely emerged from the Wuhan lab.

 

When the virus broke out in 2019, we were beginning to get some hints about it.  The World Military Games were held in Wuhan in October 2019, and were likely a major superspreader event.

 

But as more and more news emerged about this virus, first detected just a few blocks away from a lab that researches coronaviruses, the U.S. political and media establishment, and their Big Tech allies, went into overdrive trying to convince us that the virus came from a guy eating a bat sandwich, not the lab.

 

Another major hint about the origins of the virus was the behavior of the Chinese Communist Party.  It repeatedly lied about the virus and started cornering the global market on critical medical equipment that would be needed by the entire world.

 

Every step of the way, Beijing lied about the virus, insisted it did not come from the Wuhan lab, and the World Health Organization covered for communist China.  And the U.S. media establishment took Beijing’s word for it.

 

Common sense suggested it came from the lab, but our top medical “experts,” like Drs. Anthony Fauci and former NIH Director Francis Collins – were working overtime to disprove the lab leak theory.  They denounced anyone who suggested the virus originated in the lab.

 

Of course, we now know that Fauci and Collins were working with the Wuhan lab and funding its research, in spite of the lab’s well-documented record of terrible safety standards.  (Here and here.)

 

Anyone who dared to question the “scientific consensus” was immediately attacked as a “conspiracy theorist” and condemned for spreading “misinformation.”  (See next item.)  And kudos to Jon Stewart for skewering the “consensus” as only he could.

 

But it’s telling that the key words now most used to shut down the First Amendment are “scientific consensus,” “conspiracy theories” and “misinformation.”  Yet, too many things that the establishment labeled as a “conspiracy theory” over the past three years have ended up becoming the truth. 

 

As one meme put it, the difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth seems to be about 90 days!  In that sense, Communist China and Joe Biden’s America are growing closer and closer day by day. 

 

It’s precisely because of the government’s own lies and the media-sponsored misinformation that so few Americans now trust the government or the media.

 

All kinds of cultural, media and political elites owe the American people massive apologies, but don’t hold your breath.

 

 

 

Another “Consensus” Under Scrutiny

 

Neil Winton is not exactly a household name.  Winton spent decades working for the Reuters news outlet, including a time as its global science and technology correspondent. 

 

As a result, Mr. Winton has extensively covered “climate change” over the years and he knows quite a lot about the controversial issue.  That’s why his latest column questioning the “scientific consensus” is raising lots of eyebrows.

 

Winton argues that one of the left’s favorite rallying cries -- the so-called “climate crisis” -- is a “very vague claim and hard to define or prove” that amounts to little more than “an assertion,” and most certainly is not “a fact.”

 

Consider this excerpt:

 

“My Reuters credentials meant that I had easy access to the world’s finest climate scientists. To my amazement, none of these would say categorically that the link between CO2 and global warming, now known as climate change, was a proven scientific fact.

 

“Some said human production of CO2 was a probable cause, others that it might make some contribution; some said CO2 had no role at all.

 

“Everybody agreed that the climate had warmed over the last 10,000 years as the ice age retreated, but most weren’t really sure why. The sun’s radiation, which changes over time, was a favored culprit.”

 

And while we’re in the process of “fundamentally transforming” our entire economy away from fossil fuels, communist China is doing the exact opposite, presumably because it knows fossil fuels will continue to dominate the energy landscape for decades to come.

 

A new report finds that China quadrupled the number of permits for coal-fired electricity plants in 2022 – the equivalent of “starting two large coal power plants each week.”  That means anything Joe Biden does here to “save the planet,” no matter how costly or difficult, is being completely undone by communist China.

 

There is one potential upside.  Since Joe Biden thinks climate change is our greatest national security threat, perhaps this new report will get him to focus more on the dangers from communist China.  But I doubt it.

 

 

 

Biden Loses Children

 

Remember all the wailing and gnashing of teeth on the left when the Trump Administration allegedly “lost” 6,000 migrant children?  Well, the Biden Administration has lost exponentially more migrant children, but there’s barely a word about this national scandal from the “mainstream media.”

 

Mark your calendars, folks, because I don’t praise the New York Times often, but the “Old Gray Lady” deserves kudos for a special report this weekend on how migrant children are being abused and exploited in Joe Biden’s America. 

 

The Times report notes that a record surge of 130,000 “unaccompanied minors” hit the U.S. southern border last year.  Incredibly, the Biden Administration is unable to locate about 85,000 of them.  The Times adds that the Department of Health and Human Services may have permanently lost track of more than 40,000 migrant children.

 

It turns out that many of them are working hard, full-time jobs to pay back smugglers or to send money back home.  In the process, they are also taking away jobs and suppressing wages of struggling American workers.

 

The Times report also acknowledged that caseworkers “rushed through vetting sponsors” as they were pressured to quickly move the migrant children out of detention centers and into the interior of the country.  How many of these children were handed over to sex traffickers?

 

From abortion to fentanyl to tens of thousands of missing children, this administration has blood dripping from its hands!

 

By the way, there’s another group of missing children – the kids who dropped out of school after left-wing teachers’ unions closed the schools down during the pandemic. 

 

We know how many children went to private schools.  We know how many are now homeschooling.  We know how many are back in the public schools. 

 

But at least 240,000 children are unaccounted for.  Is the Biden Administration doing anything to find out what happened to those kids?

 

 

 

Speaking Of Public Education. . .

 

If you want to understand what is wrong with public education in America, look no further than Fairfax County, Virginia, where school board member Abrar Omeish is once again making headlines.

 

Recently, many Americans remembered the heroic courage and sacrifice of our World War II heroes at the Battle of Iwo Jima, where 27,000 Marines were killed or wounded in four weeks of intense fighting. 

 

But not Ms. Omeish, who said had this to say at a recent school board meeting:

 

“There’s a lot of history in February. . .  Just a few days ago was Japanese Day of Remembrance.  Something for us to certainly reflect on as we learn our history and think about it, the days when, you know, Iwo Jima unfortunately happened and set a record for really what, I hate to say, human evil is capable of.”

 

What on earth is she talking about?!  Some speculate that Ms. Omeish was confusing Iwo Jima with Harry Truman’s dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, which many leftists denounce as a “war crime.”

 

Unfortunately, Omeish refused to clarify her remarks, saying, “There is no reason to warp what was said, and reading more into it merely reflects biases forced in by the listener.”

 

Perhaps Ms. Omeish should take her own advice and learn our history.
