More Demonstrations
Another pro-Hamas march took place in New York City last night. This one, led by “Within Our Lifetime” (WOL), marched down Wall Street before stopping at City Hall. Thousands of demonstrators chanted, “Eric Adams, you can’t hide, you support genocide,” along with calls for the genocide of the Jews.
Ironically and predictably, many of the marchers were wearing masks to hide their identities.
“Within Our Lifetime” is an extremist organization. Biden’s FBI should be taking a hard look at this radical outfit, but they’re too busy investigating parents at school board meetings, pro-life Catholics and MAGA supporters.
WOL was founded by Nerdeen Kiswani – because Students for Justice in Palestine wasn’t radical enough for her. WOL exists to support the destruction of Israel. The organization declares:
“We are anti-zionists. Zionism is a settler-colonial white supremacist ideology. . . We therefore reject all collaboration and dialogue with zionist organizations. . . The liberation of Palestine requires the abolition of zionism. We defend the right of Palestinians . . . to resist the zionist occupation by any means necessary.”
The WOL website also features a section devoted to “honoring the martyrs of Palestine.” And by “martyrs” they mean terrorists. Not surprisingly, Kiswani praised the October 7th slaughter of 1,400 innocent Israelis as “heroic.”
Meanwhile, there are growing incidents at multiple universities where Jewish students are being threatened and assaulted. This atmosphere of hate is disgusting. The students responsible should be expelled.
Anti-Semitism in Academia
In spite of all the ugliness we’re seeing right now, there may be a silver lining here.
Does anyone think that anti-Semitism suddenly erupted on our college campuses overnight after Israel responded to the October 7th massacre? Of course not.
This hatred has been festering in our universities for years. And left-wing ideologies, like “diversity, equity and inclusion,” are entirely responsible for it.
Sadly, the more highly educated someone is, the more likely they are to be anti-Semitic. That undoubtedly strikes many as odd and counterintuitive. But the culture of academia is increasingly anti-Semitic, as well as anti-American. (The marchers in New York City yesterday burned Israeli and American flags.)
For example, for the past two years in a row, the law school commencement speakers at the City University of New York have been raving anti-Semites. Nerdeen Kiswani was the speaker in 2022.
How are there professors like this and this at our so-called “institutions of higher learning?” How does that happen? Why is that tolerated?
Any university that supports this kind of hate or employs those kinds of haters should lose federal tax dollars!
Sadly, we’ve seen this before. The Nazis were extremely popular among university students in 1930s Germany. The scenes you’ve probably seen of book burnings in 1930s Germany took place on university campuses.
The students and their professors collected all the books written by Jewish authors. Those were the books that were burned.
By the way, I noted yesterday that anti-Semitic, pro-Hamas slogans were projected onto the library of George Washington University. I neglected to mention that it was the Melvin and Estelle Gelman Library.
The Gelmans were widely respected Jewish philanthropists in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Gelman served on the board of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and funded the Gelman Library in honor of her husband, who once served as the endowed chair for Judaic studies at George Washington University.
That’s why those anti-Semitic images were put on that library.
The Gelman family should demand a refund as the university leadership has allowed anti-Semitism to fester and allowed their family’s legacy to be defiled.
Progressive Problems
This is a hugely dangerous moment for the Democrat Party and the American left.
More and more billionaires are cutting off support for their alma maters. Yesterday, Leon Cooperman, who has given $50 million to Columbia University, announced he was done donating until there is “major change.”
The increasingly anti-Semitic progressive base of the Democrat Party is dominated by “young voters,” “highly-educated voters” and immigrants. But what we’re seeing in the streets of our major cities and on our college campuses today raises the real possibility of a major split on the American political left.
Consider this: Joe Biden’s approval rating is down 11 points in the past month – among Democrats. What’s changed in the past month? The Hamas/Israel war.
Gallup blames Biden’s sudden collapse on his “immediate and decisive support for Israel following the October 7th attacks by Hamas.” That’s very revealing.
It seems that “diversity” may not be the Democrats’ strength after all.
Hamas’s Priorities
Every day we’re hearing stories about how people in Gaza are running out of food, water, medicine and fuel. It sounds terrible, and I’m sure it’s hard on many civilians.
Curiously, however, there’s one thing they’re not running out of -- rockets. They can’t buy enough food, water and medicine. But Hamas made sure it had plenty of rockets.
Ponder that.
Leftist Lunacy
It’s been a nerve-racking 24-hours for many Americans.
We finally dropped a few bombs on the people responsible for wounding more than 20 American military personnel in the Middle East. And a top Iranian official was at the U.N. threatening the United States.
But never fear, the State Department was hard at work!
Spokesman Matthew Miller announced that the United States, under President Joe Biden, is taking a strong stand when it comes to “promoting the human rights of intersex persons globally.”
Take that Hamas!
Apparently, yesterday was Intersex Awareness Day. I have no idea what that means, and I’m not going to google it. But the Biden Administration is all in.
More Left-wing Lunacy
Predictably, there are more calls for gutting Second Amendment rights in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Maine this week. At a lunch with the prime minister of Australia, Kamala Harris praised Australia as a model for gun control.
Well, what exactly did the Australians do? They literally confiscated privately-owned guns and destroyed 650,000 of them. And that’s the left’s goal here, too.
Maine has a yellow flag law. If someone has an interaction with law enforcement and has weapons, there is a process to determine if the weapons should be confiscated.
The Maine shooter had a history of mental illness, was reported for making threats and spent two weeks in a mental health facility. That should have triggered the yellow flag law allowing authorities to secure his weapons, but it didn’t happen.
We need to enforce the laws we already have. Hunter Biden is the poster boy for gun law enforcement!
But there is nothing logical about taking away the rights of law-abiding Americans just because someone else breaks the law.
And how many people were huddled in their homes wishing they had a gun when much of Maine was locked down yesterday?
Defending Faith, Family & Freedom
In this week’s “Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom” podcast for the James Dobson Family Institute, I speak with Tom Rose, the former editor of the Jerusalem Post and a top foreign policy advisor in the Trump White House. Rose describes the terrifying information he received at a briefing from Israeli forensic pathologists in Tel Aviv.
