Was COVID-19 A Bio-Weapon?

House Republicans on the Intelligence Committee dropped a bombshell report last night.  Consider this excerpt:

“Based on our investigation involving a variety of public and non-public information, we conclude that there are indications that [COVID-19] may have been tied to China’s biological weapons research program and spilled over to the human population during a lab-related incident at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

You may recall that last year President Biden ordered the intelligence community to conduct a review of the origins of COVID-19.  Many of us were skeptical that anything conclusive would come from that review.  Sure enough, we learned nothing.

Thankfully, House Republicans did not accept that report as the last word on the matter, and continued to investigate.  Unfortunately, when they pressed the intelligence community on specific issues that it largely ignored, the intelligence community “failed to respond.”

Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) said, “Our findings also show that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) bears more responsibility for the COVID-19 pandemic than what has been publicly known or transparently communicated to the American people.”

It’s beyond frustrating that three years later, Dr. Anthony Fauci still refuses to seriously consider that the pandemic could have been the result of an accident at the Wuhan lab.  By the way, that’s not a fringe position – 68% of Americans believe that the virus likely came from a Chinese lab.

Some of us have wondered whether it might not have been an accident at all.  But if it was part of communist China’s bio-warfare program, it should be obvious that the Wuhan lab wasn’t doing research to fight pandemics, but likely trying to figure out how best to harm us.

The links between the Wuhan lab and the Chinese military are clear.  (Here, here and here.)  And that raises even more questions:  Why did even one taxpayer dollar go from the EcoHealth Alliance via Dr. Fauci’s National Institutes of Health to the Wuhan lab?

Fauci’s Fears

In an interview with ABC News this week, Dr. Fauci said he was really worried about people losing trust in science.  I am worried, too.  I’m worried people may be losing trust in science because of people like Dr. Fauci!

I’m also worried that bureaucrats like Fauci do not appear to have a patriotic bone in their bodies.

From day one of the pandemic, Fauci was constantly making excuses for communist China.  He still defends Beijing’s heavy-handed tactics in handling the pandemic.  And he is still stonewalling efforts to get to the truth.

Confronting Communist China

There is some good and bad news from Capitol Hill regarding efforts to confront communist China.  First the good news.

In a rare moment of bipartisanship, the Senate last night unanimously approved legislation banning Tik Tok from government devices.  (Computers, phones, etc.)

Conservative stalwart Josh Hawley (R-MO), who sponsored the legislation, said, “TikTok is a Trojan Horse for the Chinese Communist Party. It's a major security risk to the United States, and until it is forced to sever ties with China completely, it has no place on government devices.”

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) is leading an additional effort aimed at banning Tik Tok nationwide.  Rubio’s bill, which has bipartisan support, would prohibit foreign adversaries like communist China, Iran and Russia from operating social media companies in the United States.

I’m glad to see Congress taking Tik Tok seriously.  Donald Trump tried to ban it more than two years ago.  But Joe Biden has done nothing about this serious threat from communist China to our personal and national security.

Now, here’s the bad news:  There’s an “army” of former members of Congress and congressional staffers lobbying on Tik Tok’s behalf to kill these commonsense measures.

The “big guns” include former Senators Trent Lott (R-MS) and John Breaux (D-LA), and former Representatives Jeffrey Dunham (R-CA) and Bart Gordon (D-TN).  In addition, there are at least 30 former congressional staffers lobbying for Tik Tok.  Some of them previously worked for Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan and Harry Reid.

Evidently, they believe the way to repay this country, which has been so good to them, is to enrich themselves in the service of America’s biggest enemy.

Cry Me A River

John Boehner, the former speaker of the House who left Congress to lobby for the marijuana industry, was back on Capitol Hill yesterday.  He was there to speak at the dedication of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s official portrait.

Once again, Boehner displayed why the GOP accomplishes so little when it has power.  He sounded like a prisoner of war with Stockholm syndrome.

Of course, he broke down crying while speaking about the “wonder” that is Nancy Pelosi and how much his daughters admire the speaker from San Francisco.  Boehner is known for his bouts of tears during unusual occasions.

But I nearly fell out of my chair when Boehner said that while he and Pelosi disagreed politically, Pelosi always put America first.

Really?! Is that right, John?

Did Nancy Pelosi put America first when she refused to remove Eric Swalwell, who slept with a Chinese spy, from the House Intelligence Committee?

Is Pelosi putting America first when she unapologetically pushes abortion on demand?

Is Pelosi putting America first when she refuses to secure the border?

Was Pelosi putting America first when she met with our enemies in Syria and Cuba?

Nancy Pelosi put America’s divisions on steroids when she ripped up Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, constantly pushed the Russia collusion hoax and needlessly impeached Trump twice.

Nancy Pelosi has done more to move her party to the left and America toward socialism than any modern member of Congress.

I just want to remind you that Boehner ceased to be speaker of the House in 2015 when a group of real conservatives challenged his speakership because they were tired of his constant compromises and sellouts.  The group was led by Mark Meadows.
