Last week, I told you about the insanity coming out of the National Education Association’s convention in Chicago. This week, we’re going to hear from the other major teacher’s union, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), which is meeting in Boston.
We got a preview yesterday from Randi Weingarten, president of the AFT, who warned of a crisis in American education. According to a survey of her union members, 90% of teachers are deeply concerned that “schools have become too politicized.”
Well, she’s not wrong about that. I think 90% of parents and taxpayers would agree that “schools have become too politicized.”
But she totally lost it when she portrayed her union members as the victims of “a year of political attacks on teachers waged by politicians stoking culture wars and banning books for personal gain.” In other words, it’s all your fault!
Welcome to Bizarro World, friends. Ms. Weingarten and the radical teachers’ unions are the reason there is so much politics swamping our schools! For Weingarten to say we have a problem with politics in the schools is like mobster Al Capone saying Chicago has a crime problem!
The teachers’ unions may as well be an official arm of the Democrat Party. They spend millions of dollars electing far-left candidates.
They promote radical curriculum that demonizes America as an evil nation, founded on slavery and genocide. They are radically pro-abortion, and they are all in on the insanity of transgenderism, forcing your daughter or granddaughter to share bathrooms with biological boys.
They’ll even “transition” your child without your knowledge!
When COVID struck, the teachers unions were the first to demand that we close the schools, and they bitterly resisted every effort to reopen. We later found out that the decisions being made at the Centers for Disease Control were being approved by Randi Weingarten and her union.
And when the Biden Administration announced that it was going to target concerned parents as “domestic terrorists,” Randi Weingarten applauded!
The teachers’ unions run the Department of Education. I am speaking from experience. I was the Under Secretary at the department in the Reagan Administration with then-Secretary Bill Bennett. We spent far too much time battling bureaucrats who were more loyal to the teachers’ unions than the administration.
I don’t know Ms. Weingarten, but I do know her “wife.” She’s a rabbi who served briefly with me on the U.S. Commission for International Religious Freedom. What was unusual about her is that I was more pro-Israel than she was! Enough said.
Speaking Of Education. . .
Professor D. L. Stewart is the chair of the higher education department in the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver. In other words, he’s in charge of training the future generation of teachers and professors.
That’s a truly disturbing thought given that one of his latest published works is entitled “Dead Honky,” taken from a 1975 Saturday Night Live skit. In his essay, Dr. Stewart calls for the “death of whiteness,” whatever that means.
Stewart suggests that “whiteness is itself a violence” because “in its emptiness, white refers to no ethnic group and defines itself only in reference to what it is not -- it is not Black, disabled, poor, trans, non-Christian.”
This is sheer lunacy! And it is also raw racism.
University of Denver leaders should be demanding Stewart’s resignation. Alumni members should be withholding their support. Elected officials in Colorado should be threatening to cut funding to the university.
America has a racism problem and it is growing more severe every day. But it isn’t the white supremacy of the haters in the KKK. The racism that is gaining strength in America and has powerful allies is anti-white racism.
People in positions of power, like Professor Stewart, can say anything they want about white Americans and get away with it. Instead of being resisted by our government leaders, our academic institutions and by Hollywood celebrities, this racism is being aided and abetted by them all.
Let me say this again: Judging a whole group of people on the basis of their skin color is legally forbidden and it is morally a sin. But the idea that the only people who commit that sin are Caucasians is a lie.
Biden Talks Tacos
A lot has been written about Joe Biden’s long list of racist remarks. Kamala Harris blasted him for working with segregationists. But this item isn’t about Joe. It’s about Jill.
Dr. Jill Biden spoke at the LatinX IncluXion event yesterday in San Antonio, Texas.
Okay, let’s stop there for a moment. Hispanics hate the term “Latinx.” But the fringe left insists on imposing it on the Hispanic community.
During her remarks, Biden told the audience that their community was as diverse as “the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio.”
Unique as breakfast tacos?!
While Florida Senator Marco Rubio had a bit of fun with the first lady’s flub, her comparison of the Hispanic community to breakfast foods did not go over well at all.
The National Association of Hispanic Journalists blasted Dr. Jill, writing, “We are not tacos. Our heritage as Latinos is shaped by various diasporas, cultures and food traditions. Do not reduce us to stereotypes.”
This morning, her press secretary apologized for the fact that “her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community.”
But the damage has been done. I suspect the first lady just inadvertently registered a lot of new Hispanic Republicans!
By the way, I suspect the first lady’s visit to San Antonio is the closest any Biden will get to the southern border, unless they decide to deport Hunter!
Biden Is A Security Risk
More information about Hunter Biden’s alleged illegal activity is coming to light. The latest disturbing revelations haven’t been verified yet, but we already know enough.
Hunter has a lot of problems. He’s been addicted to drugs and prostitutes. But Hunter Biden is not just “troubled.” He has exploited his father’s famous name and positions of power to enrich himself and his family.
The problem for America is that Hunter Biden did business with America’s enemies, and there is significant evidence that those enemies got influence with our government because of that business.
For example, we recently learned that President Biden sold U.S. oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to a company owned by the Chinese Communist Party that Hunter had significant dealings with.
We have to assume that Hunter Biden is compromised by the communist Chinese government. He is a national security risk.
Hunter Biden’s drug abuse is a serious personal problem. But selling out America and getting rich off our enemies while the rest of the country gets poorer is a serious issue for all of us.
