Chaos On Juneteenth
Sadly, in multiple cities over the weekend, folks started celebrating Juneteenth early with unlicensed street parties, full of drugs, booze and twerking.
In Chicago, it was another bloody weekend with 47 people shot and four killed. In Washington, D.C., chaos broke out when gunfire erupted, killing a teenager and injuring one police officer and at least two others. A shooting in New York City left one dead and eight injured.
Like many big cities dominated by the left, Washington, D.C., jumped to cut its police department. Now, Mayor Bowser is begging for new officers. She’s offering up to $26,000 in signing bonuses. But even that big of a bonus is unlikely to get new recruits to do a dangerous job while people like Bowser and others on the left call them “racists.”
A Little Juneteenth History
History is not in vogue these days because the left wants a population that doesn’t know the truth and will easily swallow their lies. So, I’m going to put my former Under Secretary of Education hat on and remind you of a little history.
Juneteenth is a holiday that commemorates the freeing of black slaves in Texas two years after Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day, the first Juneteenth celebration was held in 1872 in Emancipation Park in Houston, Texas. It has been also described as black America’s July 4th.
Of course, I understand the emotions of celebrating the end of the disgusting institution of slavery. But there would have been no liberation of the slaves without July 4th.
When the Founding Fathers wrote the Declaration of Independence, the words of the second paragraph -- “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. . .” -- marked the first step toward the death of slavery.
Now let’s go through some of the history that the left doesn’t want you to know about.
When it came to the issue of slavery, the Democrat Party was the “pro-choice party.” The Democrat Party’s position was that each state should be allowed to decide for itself whether it wanted the choice of owning slaves. Of course, the Democrat Party gave that choice to everyone except the slaves, who had no choice.
After the Civil War in which at least 650,000 Americans died (we are the only nation to fight a civil war to end the institution of slavery), the Democrat Party didn’t give up in treating black Americans as second-class citizens. It doubled down.
It was the Democrat Party that passed Jim Crow laws throughout the South that enforced segregation, even to the extent of having separate drinking fountains and bathrooms. It passed a whole web of laws that were designed to prevent freed slaves from voting.
In the 1960s, Republicans in Congress drove the effort to pass civil rights legislation to ensure black Americans were covered under the law by the equal protection guarantees of the Constitution.
Opposition was primarily led by approximately 20 Democrat senators who did everything they could to prevent those laws from passing. Ultimately, they failed. But many remained in the Senate for years.
Joe Biden, who has been around Washington forever, has frequently bragged about his friendships with these Southern Democrats. To this day, the Russell Senate Office Building remains named after Georgia’s Richard Russell, an avowed segregationist.
The left has turned our Founding Fathers into monsters by holding them to the standards of 2022. But in the era in which they lived, they were expanding the promise of America. Meanwhile, Joe Biden gets a pass for what he did 30 years ago.
“Night Of Rage”
Any day now, the Supreme Court is expected to issue a decision that could be the biggest pro-life victory in the nation’s history. We don’t know what day that will be. But when it happens, the radical pro-abortion group “Jane’s Revenge” is promising there will a night of rage.
Here’s an excerpt of their manifesto recently posted on an anarchist website:
“Within the month we anticipate a verdict will be issued that overturns Roe v. Wade. . . This is an event that should inspire rage in millions of people who can get pregnant. . . and yet, the response thus far has been tepid. . . We need to get angry. . . We need them to be afraid of us. . .
“On the night the final ruling is issued . . . we are asking for courageous hearts to come out after dark. Whoever you are and wherever you are, we are asking for you to do what you can to make your anger known. . . To those who work to oppress us: If abortion isn’t safe, you aren’t either. We are everywhere.”
Did you notice the odd wording in the message – “millions of people who can get pregnant”? Even in their extreme pro-abortion anarchism, they follow the insane leftist dogma that insists men can get pregnant.
So much for the “liberation of women.” The radical left is erasing women entirely! They’re not only denying what makes women unique – the ability to bring life into the world – they’re denying their very existence at all by refusing to even use the word “women.”
Tomorrow morning, pro-abortion groups are planning a huge demonstration at the Supreme Court. Over the weekend, disgusting protests took place outside the home of Justice Amy Coney Barrett.
The people gathering outside the justices’ homes are clearly violating a federal law that prohibits such efforts aimed at intimidation. Why is that law not being enforced? Because Joe Biden and his attorney general are trying to intimidate enough justices on the Supreme Court to influence the outcome of the decision.
This is the exact reason why there is a federal law against this! It is totally inappropriate and deeply damaging to the country to subject the independent judiciary to riots and demonstrations with the goal of affecting the outcome of their decisions.
If you are really worried about the state of our union, you can’t have judges living in fear of mob violence and assassinations. But Joe Biden, Merrick Garland, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi want the justices fearful and intimidated, and that is exactly what they are allowing to happen.
Yet they have the gall to say that Donald Trump is a threat to democracy! Trump is out of office, and out of power. He’s playing golf in Florida, while their thugs are forming mobs outside the justices’ homes!
Common Sense Prevails
FINA, the official body that governs international swimming competitions, issued new rules to address the left’s latest fad of men pretending to be women.
It is essentially this: If a boy has gone through puberty, he can’t compete in the women’s international division. The effects of testosterone are simply too great to overcome no matter what else may be done later.
The immediate practical impact is that Lia Thomas, formerly known as Will Thomas, will not be allowed to compete in international women’s swimming competitions.
FINA is still allowing transgender men (biological women identifying as men) to compete against men. The group is also creating a new “open category” that will reportedly allow anyone to compete in that category.
This is a modest step forward by one international body. It will be interesting to see if FINA can stand firm in the face of the predictable outrage by the left.
Back To The Polls
Israelis are headed back to the polls for the fifth national election in three years. The coalition government led by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett survived two votes of no confidence today, but Bennett’s odd coalition recently lost another member and has been crippled ever since.
As a result of these developments, Bennett will step down as prime minister and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, leader of the center-left Yesh Atid Party, will become acting Prime Minister until new elections are held, most likely in October.
Former Prime Minister and Likud opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu celebrated the demise of Bennett’s government as “great news for millions of Israeli citizens.”
