BAUER CALLS POPE JOHN PAUL II A MAN OF GENUINE FAITH WHO TOUCHED ALL HUMANITY

04/02/2005

Campaign for Working Families Chairman Gary L. Bauer was deeply saddened to learn of the death on Saturday of Pope John Paul II, and said: “The pope was a man whose piety, charisma, hope and love touched the lives not only of Catholics, but of all of humanity.”

The Chairman of Campaign for Working Families made the following statement following the passing of the pope: “Pope John Paul II's contribution to the collapse of communism, his efforts toward better understanding between Jews and Christians and his uncompromising defense of the sanctity of life, marriage and the family, earned him the respect of people of all faiths. Even in his final years, as he suffered the painful effects of Parkinson’s disease and other ailments, the pope demonstrated to the world the redemptive power of a deep and hopeful faith. Pope John Paul II was a man of genuine faith, infinite hope and deep love. He will be remembered for his tireless work on behalf of Christian values and against tyranny and the culture of death.”

Mr. Bauer concluded, “Pope John Paul II will be missed and never forgotten.
