WASHINGTON - The Campaign for Working Families, founded by Gary Bauer in 1996, today began airing a sixty-second commercial supporting Proposition 22 on Tuesday's California ballot. The radio ad featuring Gary Bauer begins airing statewide in California on Friday afternoon and will continue running through Tuesday, March 7th.
The following is the text of the radio ad.
"Hi, I'm Gary Bauer, and I'd like to take a moment to talk to you about an issue of great importance- the institution of marriage.
"This coming Tuesday, March 7th, Californians will go to the polls to vote on the shortest and simplest initiative in state history, Proposition 22. Prop. 22 is just 14 words. It states that: "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."
"You know, that's just commonsense. For thousands of years, our Judeo-Christian culture has been built on the foundation of marriage and family. When we have strong families, we raise healthy children and create a prosperous society.
"That's why it's important for us to reaffirm our faith and confidence in marriage.
"Now some people say that marriage is outdated or unnecessary. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
"When you go to the polls on Tuesday, March 7th, stand up for families and marriage, Vote YES on Proposition 22.
"A lot of families are counting on you."
