WASHINGTON, D.C. – Former Presidential Candidate Gary Bauer joined with a preeminent group of pro-family leaders on Thursday announcing a nationwide campaign to protect marriage, an institution jeopardized by recent court decisions. Bauer said: “The tragedy is that our nation is toying with killing the golden goose – marriage – that premier union which has brought prosperity, protection and stability to people of every race, creed and color throughout western civilization. This is the most radical and poorly conceived idea of modernity, because to destroy traditional marriage, the union of one man and one woman, will hurt us all.”
Bauer’s political action committee, Campaign for Working Families, is launching a $3 million effort to defeat any elected official who supports same-sex marriage. “CWF has already built a grassroots network of 100,000 activists who are committed to holding every member of Congress, every state legislator, and every presidential candidate accountable on this issue,” Bauer said.
“The current attempt of the radical homosexual rights movement to use our courts to redefine marriage so that men can marry men and women can marry women would, if successful, be a moral and cultural disaster. It would reverse 2,000 of western civilization and inevitably open the door to polygamy and polyandry. We must not and will not allow it to succeed.” |
