Unions vs. Obamacare

Conservatives have warned for years that Obamacare would be expensive, lead to lost hours and pay for workers and generally fail to live up to its promises. Such concerns were dismissed by liberals who glibly insisted that we had to pass the bill to find out what's in it.

Since 2010, the critics have largely been proven right. Now even some groups on the left are admitting it.

One such group is Unite Here, a labor union representing 300,000...

America Rejects Obama's Defense Cuts

As Obama looks for ways to pay for the massive spending in his latest $4 trillion budget, he is taking a meat cleaver to the Pentagon. Obama wants to slash the size of the Army to its lowest levels since before World War II.

Democrats hailed Obama's budget. But the American people aren't very keen on the idea of gutting our defenses. The latest Fox News poll finds that only 36% of voters support the troop cuts, while 59%...

Crisis In Crimea

As the crisis in Crimea drags on, no resolution is in sight. Russia scuttled an old ship to prevent Ukrainian vessels from leaving Donuzlav Lake. The Crimean parliament voted to join Russia and scheduled a March 16th referendum on secession from Ukraine.

Speaking from the White House this afternoon, President Obama (whose approval rating on foreign policy is dropping like a rock -- see below) condemned the referendum, saying it would "violate the...

Syria's Christians Under Sharia Law

Radical Islamists seized control of the Syrian city of Raqqa last year. Now they are forcing Christians in the area to submit to a dhimma -- a feature of Sharia law that makes them second-class citizens.

According to the terms imposed on Raqqa's Christians by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS): Christians in Raqqa must pay a tax of roughly $1,000...

Obama, Putin And Ukraine

The Obama Administration is attempting to ratchet up the pressure on Russia in response to the Ukrainian crisis. Yesterday the Pentagon announced that it had "put on hold all military-to-military engagements between the United States and Russia." Russian agricultural officials have been blocked from attending a trade meeting in Washington.

A $1 billion emergency loan package was announced this morning, and Secretary of State John Kerry is in...

Ukraine & The U.S.

Our community organizer-in-chief is once again confronted by the harsh realities of the world. Over the weekend, Russian troops invaded the Crimean Peninsula, a critically important region of Ukraine. Obama's response has been flailing. Already we are seeing hints that he will deploy his usual strategy, which is to drag out a straw man.

Whenever the left gets in a bind for promoting failed policy, it goes on the attack, accusing conservatives of having...

The Ninth Circus Strikes Again

Yesterday the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued yet another ruling likely to cause the blood pressure of patriotic Americans to skyrocket. In this case, the court ruled that officials at Live Oak High School, in a San Jose suburb, were justified in ordering students to take off or turn inside out their American flag t-shirts in order to avoid racial violence.

Why would American flag shirts prompt violence? Hispanic students at the school...

Brewer Picked The Pigskin

Sadly, as was widely predicted, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer yesterday vetoed SB 1062. Responding to her veto, Todd Starnes of Fox News tweeted, "Protect the Super Bowl or religious liberty? Brewer chose the pigskin."

Worse than the veto was that the left was allowed to frame the debate. Legislation intended to preserve religious liberty was cast by most news outlets as an effort to restore Jim Crow laws, which prevented black...

Gay Rights vs. Religious Liberty

Arizona is ground zero in the latest culture clash. Governor Jan Brewer is under enormous pressure to veto a bill (SB 1062) that strengthens religious liberty protections for individuals.

The state legislature passed a bill intended to protect religious business owners from being forced to conduct business in any way that violates their religious beliefs. Eighteen states have laws preventing the government from substantially burdening an...

Obama's Obsession -- I

Almost every day when you pick up the newspaper or turn on the TV, it seems there is some new way that the Obama Administration is promoting the radical homosexual public policy agenda. The issue is its obsession.

Today's Washington Post has a lengthy story about Uganda's new law criminalizing homosexual behavior. The headline reads: "Ugandan President Defies U.S., Signs Anti-Gay Bill." The subtitle warns: "Western...
