2012 Update

  1. A new Rasmussen poll shows just how fluid the Republican presidential race is. With Texas Governor Rick Perry now officially a candidate, Rasmussen’s survey of likely Republican primary voters finds Perry surging to the top with 29% support, followed by Mitt Romney at 18% and Michele Bachmann at 13%. No other candidate receives double digit support, while 16% of voters remain undecided.
  2. Washington was buzzing yesterday after a...

Bush, Boehner & Bad Luck

Hitting the campaign trail yesterday in Iowa and Minnesota, President Obama made some truly remarkable and revealing statements. They were remarkable for their total disconnect from reality and revealed much about his mindset.

In Minnesota, Obama blamed congressional Republicans and John Boehner for the recent downgrade and chaos on Wall Street. Obama said:

“I put a deal before the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, that...

BREAKING NEWS: This afternoon, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, Georgia, declared ObamaCare’s individual mandate unconstitutional. The majority wrote that the mandate was “a wholly novel and potentially unbounded assertion of congressional authority: the ability to compel Americans to purchase an expensive … product they have elected not to buy, and to make them re-purchase that … product every month for their entire lives.”

Big Labor Loses; Tea Party Triumphs

All eyes were on the Badger State yesterday as the Battle of Wisconsin reached its climax. Six Republican state senators who had backed Governor Scott Walker’s controversial legislation to limit collective bargaining rights were on the ballot fighting recall elections instigated by Big Labor.

The unions poured millions of dollars into these races. Thousands of volunteers were mobilized. The media, local and national, were beating the...

2012 Update

  1. The 2012 campaign has been underway for some time now. But this weekend’s big straw poll in Ames, Iowa, serves as an unofficial kick-off for the GOP nomination. I remember well the excitement I felt 12 years ago when my presidential campaign beat expectations at Ames.

For those who finish in the top three, the Ames straw poll can provide a big boost in name ID and fundraising. And there are probably one or two candidates who can’t go much further...

A Bad Weekend

Friday was certainly a bad day for America. The historic downgrade of our debt is a reflection of the leadership we have had under Barack Obama and his band of socialists. For most of past week there was a consensus that the credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s would not downgrade America’s bonds, but that it would instead wait until later in the year to see what the super committee recommends and what Congress does in the way of additional deficit...

Obama Celebrates, America Mourns

Thousands gathered in Chicago Wednesday night to wish Barack Obama a happy 50th birthday a day early. Many of the attendees paid $30,000 a plate for the honor. For that, they were able to rub elbows with Hollywood headliners and popular music stars. The president held a second birthday bash at the White House yesterday. Everyone at the party seemed quite happy.

While the president was opening presents from his elite admirers, America was opening...

2012 Update

  1. A new poll from Quinnipiac University finds President Obama in serious trouble in the key battleground state of Florida. According to the poll, Obama’s approval rating in the Sunshine State stands at 44%. Only 33% of independent voters approve. Just 42% of all registered voters surveyed believe the president deserves to be reelected.
  2. Last night Barack Obama told liberal activists that the 2012 election will “in some ways be more important...
