Fighting For Our Values

All day yesterday I attended a strategy meeting of leaders representing every segment of the conservative movement -- values issues, economic conservatives, libertarians, foreign policy conservatives and Tea Party leaders. These meetings are held several times a year, and the ground rules are that the deliberations, for obvious reasons, are off-the-record and not to be shared with the media.

Nevertheless, the Washington Post had a front page story...

Democrats Directed IRS Tea Party Targeting

Yesterday afternoon more emails related to the IRS scandal were released. They make two things perfectly clear: First, there was a coordinated, intentional effort to target Tea Party groups. Second, top congressional Democrats demanded it.

The first point is worth repeating because Democrats and their media allies insist there is no scandal. But the IRS was clearly targeting conservative and Tea Party groups. It developed a...

Conservative Victories

Two candidates that we supported with your generous help prevailed in yesterday's primaries.

In the Nebraska Senate race, which was widely viewed as an establishment vs. Tea Party contest, conservative Ben Sasse cruised to victory, receiving 49% of the vote in the five-way contest. In an overwhelmingly Republican state like Nebraska, why not nominate the most movement-oriented conservative possible? That candidate was Ben Sasse, and he is almost...

VA Scandal A Preview Of Obamacare's Future

Everyone should be paying attention to the VA scandal. Not only is the disgraceful treatment of our veterans a national outrage, but it offers us a potential glimpse into the future of Obamacare.

Dr. Richard Krugman, the former associate chief of staff at the Veterans Affairs health care system in Harlingen, Texas, is among the growing number of whistleblowers at VA facilities to allege that poor treatment led to unnecessary deaths...

Obama's Hashtag Foreign Policy

The tragedy of the kidnapped Nigerian girls continues. From the past acts of Boko Haram, we can assume that by now most of the girls have been sexually abused. Now their jihadist captors have forcibly converted them to Islam. A video has been released showing them reciting Koranic verses in Arabic. It's not clear whether that was before or after they were raped.

The video has renewed the world's outrage, but there should have been...

Solidarity & Action

On Capitol Hill this week leaders of various Christian denominations gathered to call attention to the growing danger of Christian persecution in the Middle East. The press conference was organized by Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) and Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA), co-chairs of the Religious Minorities in the Middle East Caucus.

Speakers at the press conference represented the Catholic Church, Greek Orthodox Church, Southern Baptists, evangelicals and others. There were...

Rally For Religious Freedom

This morning I joined the leaders of 15 other pro-family, pro-life organizations at the "Rally for Religious Freedom." The event took place in front of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, which is widely considered the second-most important court in the country. The rally was sponsored by Priests for Life and the Archdiocese of Washington, which were in court today fighting Obamacare's contraception mandate.

It is a...

The Real War On Women

There is a lot of talk about a "war on women" in America. It is utter nonsense spewed by leftist politicians trying to disguise their radical social agenda. There is a very real war on women going on in many Muslim countries, and the left frequently ignores it. Recent tragic events have forced some in the media to confront it.

Three weeks ago, nearly 300 Nigerian schoolgirls were kidnapped in the middle of night. The kidnapping was carried out by...

Good News & Bad News On Religious Liberty

The Supreme Court handed down a decision today on the constitutionality of prayers at government events. The case before the court concerned the town of Greece, New York, which opened its board meetings with a roll call, the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer delivered by local clergy.

Two residents sued the town because the prayers were predominantly Christian. In its defense, the town argued that it wasn't discriminating because...
