Obama vs. The Second Amendment

In response to the tragic Sandy Hook shootings last month, President Obama today unveiled a series of proposals aimed at limiting Second Amendment rights. Some, like expanded background checks, enjoy broad support in most polls. Others, like banning certain guns, are more controversial. The public generally wants the laws already on the books to be enforced, not more laws passed.

When it comes to the use of executive orders, Obama appears to...

The Bully's Pulpit

Virtually every day since he won reelection, Barack Obama has addressed the nation, made a speech, held a press conference or given an interview in which he has attacked Republicans, conservatives or the half of the country that didn't vote for him. Obama is behaving as though he won a massive landslide. He did not.

Obama got 51% of the vote. At the same time, voters returned a Republican majority to the House of Representatives and increased the...

Faith Under Fire

Last week, Pastor Louie Giglio of Passion City Church in Atlanta, Georgia, had to drop out of participating in Barack Obama's second inaugural festivities. Pastor Giglio had been asked to deliver the benediction because of his church's incredible work fighting human trafficking.

So what was the scandal that led him to withdraw? Embezzlement? Adultery? Not even close. His liberal "sin" was the fact that fifteen years ago he delivered a sermon...

Obama/Biden "Attack On Second Amendment"

As expected, yesterday's meeting between Vice President Joe Biden and the National Rifle Association was little more than a White House photo op. Leaders of the NRA emerged to say it was not a two-way discussion, and that the only purpose of the meeting was to provide cover for Democrats so they could say, "The White House...

The Persecuted Church

Kudos to Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA). Once again, Rep. Wolf is taking the lead on an issue that gets too little attention -- the persecution of Christians around the world. It's no secret that I am no fan of the Obama Administration, and I have repeatedly criticized Obama for reaching out to the mullahs in Iran, and for praising Islam's contributions to...

Obama "Picking Fights"

One of the most common themes in the emails I receive every day is the growing belief that Washington is broken, that the "system just doesn't work anymore." It's a widely held view. A Gallup poll released Monday found that 77% of Americans felt that "the way politics works in Washington these days is causing serious harm to the...

Iran Endorses Hagel

Of all the threats to our national security interests, Iran is at the top of the list. With each passing day, the likelihood increases that the U.S. and Israel must either confront Iran's nuclear weapons program or be confronted by a nuclear-armed Iran.

Iran is also the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism. It is propping up the brutal Assad...

Obama Nominates Hagel, Brennan

Barack Obama filled out his national security team today with the formal nominations of former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel to be Secretary of Defense and Counterterrorism Adviser John Brennan to be Director of the CIA. (By the way, some liberals are demanding to know why Obama keeps appointing so many white men!)

Normally a Cabinet secretary will...

Thank You!

You did it, my friends! American Values has just finished the final tallies of our 2012 year-end receipts -- and we met our fundraising goal. I can't thank you enough for your tremendous generosity!

As I mentioned in our appeals, donations were running way behind last year's figures. But once again you have come through in a big way! THANK YOU! We...

"Shining City" Or National Decline?

After the Newtown school shootings, an ABC/Washington Post poll found that 52% of the public felt the shooting reflected "broader problems in American society." The poll didn't ask what kind of problems, but I would submit that the breakdown of the family and reliable standards of right and wrong are at the top of the...
