U.S. Prisons Manufacturing Jihadists

Last week, Rep. Peter King (R-NY), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, held his second hearing on Islamic radicalization in America. The focus of this hearing was radicalization in our prison systems. Predictably, King was pilloried in the “mainstream” media and by left-wing activists for being a xenophobic, religious bigot. The critics claimed there was no evidence of a serious Islamic problem in the U.S. prison system. Unfortunately for the critics, reality intruded.

Late yesterday afternoon, news broke that two Muslim converts, Abu Khalid Abdul-Latif, formerly Joseph Anthony Davis, and Walli Mujahidh, formerly Frederick Domingue, Jr., had been arrested for plotting to attack a military recruiting station in Seattle, Washington. This recruiting station also contains a daycare center. ABC News reports that the men met in prison, where they were exposed to the teachings of Islamism.

Reuters adds that Abdul-Latif, inspired by Nidal Hasan’s murderous rampage at Fort Hood, tried to recruit a third individual, telling him, “If one person could kill so many people, three attackers could kill many more.”

In addition to these men, there is the case of Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, aka Carlos Bledsoe, who attacked a military recruiting office in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 2009. In short, while we spend billions of dollars and lose thousands of young heroes fighting jihadists abroad, new enemy recruits are being “drafted” at taxpayer expense right here in U.S. prisons.

Obama’s Oil Deception

I want to comment again on yesterday’s decision to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. This decision has nothing to do with your pain at the pump, and everything to do with the pain Obama and his party are likely to feel at the polls next year.

As I noted in yesterday’s report, the Obama Administration has done little to increase the supply of oil and much to restrict domestic oil production. Oil prices are high in part because oil is a commodity and the market looks forward, not backwards. Major industries that rely on oil, looking at what the Administration has done, are betting that prices are going to remain high in the future because there will be less supply on the market.

For example, it has been noted that the number of operational rigs in the Gulf of Mexico was cut in half after the BP spill last year. Why? Because of the Obama drilling ban. It was reported in February that the Administration was holding up more than 100 drilling permits.

By the beginning of June, just 15 deep water permits had been approved. As a result of the Gulf drilling ban and the lag time in processing permits, Gulf oil production is expected to fall significantly, by as much as 20% in 2012 and beyond.

But again, we don’t have to guess about this. Obama’s green agenda relies on making traditional energy more expensive. The first thing Obama’s Interior Secretary did when he took office was to cancel scores of drilling leases. His Energy Secretary once advocated $8.00-a-gallon gasoline. A Harvard study estimated that Obama’s cap and trade scheme could result in $7.00-a-gallon gasoline. And Obama himself promised to bankrupt the coal industry.

Here’s something else to consider. Do you recall how dismissive the Democrats are whenever we talk about drilling in Alaska? They say the additional million barrels a day won’t make any difference. Today’s Wall Street Journal notes the irony of the Administration releasing 1.5 million barrels a day for the next 30 days — for the purpose of lowering the price of oil and gas.

When Barack Obama took office, the national average for a gallon of gasoline was $1.84. Oil and gas prices have been going up for the past two and half years. Yet Obama did nothing. But now that he is in full campaign mode and his poll numbers are falling, the oil is flowing — not from increased domestic production, but from a source that he can easily control when it suits his interests.

Our Embarrassed Elites

In a Washington Times op-ed this week, I took NBC to task for being too embarrassed to recognize that God is an honored part of America’s history and heritage. But I didn’t stop with NBC because the problem didn’t start with NBC. Click here to read more.

Homosexual “Marriage” Coming To Your Hometown Soon?

Same-sex “marriage” is coming to your town and every American community coast-to-coast if Barack Obama is reelected. How do I know that? I know because of the kinds of judges he appoints and because of what he said at a fundraiser last night in Manhattan.

At that event Obama told hundreds of homosexual activists that while his views are evolving, “…if you keep up the fight, if you will devote your time and your energies to this campaign one more time, I promise you we will write another chapter in that story.”

In other words, give Obama a second term and the next chapter in Obama’s evolution will be the imposition of same-sex “marriage” on every state in the country.

My friends, I am deeply encouraged by the commitments that are coming in to support our efforts to defeat Obama and his socialist allies next year. The stakes in this next election could hardly be greater.

If you have not yet responded to yesterday’s special request, please take a few moments this weekend to pray about your commitment to our shared values and let me hear back from you. Use this link to respond.
